This has much more life and flavor than I remembered. Color is translucent red, with a fairly muted nose. This shows best on the palate with bright cherry / raspberry. Well balanced and smooth finish.

Medium light cherry color and clear. Bright nose of cherry, cola and licorice. Light bodied with cola and cherry flavors. More pinot like than a caberernet.

This was considerably better than a year ago. Bottle variation or being sideways certainly improved. Short decant about 45 minutes revealed great dark cherry and black fruit with no sediment. Probably still a bit young but paired very nicely with Prime tenderloin and sauteed mushrooms.

Very nice, but to be fair, it’s what I expected based on everything I’d heard and knew myself from previous Howell Mountain wines.
Decanted for a bit over 2 hours. A dark color with lots of rich aroma of dark fruit, oak and earth. Taste follows along with a very similar profile. A bit more fruit, including plum, blackberry and even some blueberry. A very nicely balanced, medium wine with a bright acidity. I think this had many years of aging ahead of it. I wish I hadn’t opened it, it was my only bottle.
Paired this with Snake River Farms American Wagyu Ribeye Steaks, Grilled asparagus and au gratin potatoes! Spectacular Pairing and meal!

Just to start with this is my first foray into Howell Mountain single vineyard wine. Really liked the lovely cherry fruit and smooth finish but very much a medium bodied wine that I wasn't expecting. Don't know if that's Howell Mountain or the Hindsight style. Have a few others from there that I picked up on WTSO couple months ago...we'll see how those come out. Anyway that's just my opinion maybe it will change as I another one of these to try. Overall especially the wifey said that's VERY good and that's always a good thing :-)!

Had the 2013 Howell Mountain last night in NAPA. It was really outstanding. Tons of fruit, lots of backbone, but really soft and gentle at the same time. I'd still give it a bit more time and for sure this is a 95+ wine when it peaks. Great value Howell Mountain wine at $75!!

Howell Mountain Spring Wine Trade Tasting. Nose of black cherry, red cherry and bramble, more of the same on the palate, lovely tasting fruit, medium/big body, slightly fruit forward but savory fruit, peaks in about 3 years, slightly short finish. Retail $75 and worth it.

Same as prior note - showing better than I previously remembered, with vibrant fruit flavors. I enjoyed this and ready to go now.

Smooth but quite uneventful and underwhelming. No intensity and not what I normally get with Howell Mountain.

Classic CA Cab. Lots of dark fruit and spice, but with a crisp core. Big, but not over-extracted. This is just a baby and I'm glad I have more. 91-92

Classic Howell Mountain juice. Just starting to enter its drinking window. Was a steal for $35

Rich red and blue fruit, spiced and lightly oaked. Maybe a bit overripe, but a fun drink.

Still a bit young but drinking well early. Fruit forward with purity, balance and good acidity. Notes of vanilla and omwood but not overpowering.

A fruit-forward cab, with black cherry, black raspberry, vanilla and oak. Well balanced, with plenty of upside aging potential at this time.
