From a library release that Dan Petroski did last fall, this is older than I would ever allowed on my own. It turns out to be a good thing that he held some, as it's a lovely expression for this blend. The mix of Tocai Friuliano (45%), Chardonnay (32%), and Ribolla Gialla (23%) has taken on a nutty patina that supplements still fresh orange fruit and fresh hay aromas. On the palate it's bright, yet showing a much broader presence that perhaps evidences the Chardonnay element. Delicious pre-dinner, with dinner, and post-dinner.

Light straw color; medium intense aromas of of ripe apple, Asian pear, tangerine, fresh mineral, followed by hints of fennel, lemon, honey and floral notes. Complex palate, medium body, but not crisp, more juicy, melon-y?!, medium acid (like a Rhone white), very fresh, even at this age. Mostly in Stainless and neutral oak. 12.5%abv
a blend of 45% Tocai friulano , 32% Chardonnay and 23% Ribolla Gialla.

With a few years on it, feels like the Chardonnay is reallly standing out a lot more. Fuller, creamier, perhaps. I think I preferred the wine a bit more in its youth.

A lively and complex white blend that is both interesting and refreshing - no small feat at this price point ($28 from winery). Almost clear in color, light in body, nose of white pear and orange peel. Tastes of grapefruit, lemon, crushed rock, and almond, with a pleasantly tart finish. Blend of 45% Tocai Friulano, 32% Chardonnay, and 23% Ribolla Gialla. 12.2% alcohol. Within the lighter style of whites in northern CA, Massican is my favorite; these wines are interesting without being eccentric, lean while still being tasty.

Medium lemon color. Great nose of lemon/lime candy, honeysuckle and green apple. Citrus and apple flavors on the palate with medium+ acidity and clean and crisp on the mouthfeel with a rounder finish. Just delicious.

Light golden hue with slight effervescence. Honeysuckle and pear on the nose. Light bodied with bright acidity, minerality, and slightly nutty finish. Minimal oak and no malolactic fermentation. Great summer drinking at only 12.2% alcohol. Nice blend of Tocai Friulano, Chardonnay, and Ribolla Gialla. It's the Cal-Ital version of a Super Friulian.

Always fantastic. A touch of something floral, crisp citrus notes, great minerality, but the blended elements round it out to make it a bit fuller and not too angular.

Interesting wine. Great nose that stayed the same the entire time (about 3 hours), At first taste it reminded me of a nice Italian wine. Citrus with good acidity. As time progressed, the next transistion was to the chardonnay notes. After about an hour, the wine finally opened and melded together nicely. Still carrying the primary Italian notes over chardonnay but nicely done. Very nice wine, interesting flavors but not overly complex. Hard to justify the price.

Followed over two days. Light clear gold. 45% Tocai Fruiliano, 32% Chardonnay, 23% Ribolla Gialla. Aromatic, fresh wine. This needs some airtime as it is mostly acid at first, but it opens into a balanced beauty with herbal & melon notes. Complex texture & vertical layers of flavors. This picks up some heft as it opens and shows more round edges to match the nerve shown on opening.
This shows a finessed & deep character with subtle details which really revealed on day 2. Lots to enjoy now, but that acid makes me think this will reward some cellaring. Excellent.

Light golden straw color. Hints of tropical fruit, citrus and green apple on the nose with some white floral notes. Similar flavors on the palate with more of a tart apple and citrus flavor profile instead of ripe tropical fruit and a bit of steely minerality. Crisp acidity but still with some of that Napa richness and body on the mouthfeel. Very nice wine.

Love Massican. Thanks Bill. Subtle crispness if that makes sense. Tropical fruit and also some hints (to me anyway) of some green apple right on the start of the palate. Refreshing. 3 to go...perhaps only one more this summer.

This wine was 100% new to me. (Thanks Gregg) Immediately intrigued but the complexity of the nose. Starts of tropical and then shows nice richness. Acidity hitting nicely. Medium bodied. Lots of texture with this wine. I am a new fan of Massican.

Right off the truck earlier in the week, took no notes but it remained interesting and quaffable over 2 days, a great blend. I haven't had previous vintages of this wine but the mix shifted towards the Friuli (45% IIRC) with less Ribolla and that might have made it more accessible at this early date. Not exactly cheap but worth it. 90-91.

Unusual, but good. Creamy tart citrus with plenty of minerality. Paired nicely with rich seafood dishes.
