Opened dense, viscous, and great mouth feel but a little flat in taste. After an hour, really opened up with very good fruit. Notes of peach, passion fruit, dried pineapple, grapefruit

Medium gelb.

Dönnhoff Dellchen Vertical Tasting (Frankfurt): More vegetal nose, with cucumber, still lemon zesty and mineral, but quite different to other Dellchen vintages. This will be very pleasant when served with food, e.g. salmon with wasabi, sushi and so on.

Very pretty engaging nose on the lemon/lime spectrum with just a hint of Riesling revealing honey. Some herbs and mineral notes. Palate just off the edge of truly dry but I don’t agree with the too sweet comments. More like the sweet lemon one sees from Puligny white Burgs, with that kind of intense density paired to a mid-weight mouthful. Tart long finish. Definitely a serious acidic zing, refreshing and demanding another sip. This is a very good dry Riesling. Again it does remind me of 1er or GC white Burg, but with zero oak influence.

Popped, poured, consumed over next two hours. Started off simple, but delicious. After about 20 minutes, it began to open up, add nuance and fan out. After an hour, it was really singing.

We are talking about the Dellchen GG VDP.Grosse Lage: a more or less disturbing bottle for me today, all aromas overlayed by the way too sweet fruit in the finish while swallowing, good balance, some smoky stony hints, deep yellow fruit on the midpalate, but...., this bottle is lacking tension today, the finish of this bottle, the too sweet tropical fruit, would like to ice up this bottle to suppress the sweetness, somewhat disappointing, **-***-?

Very good indeed! Nice balanced wine wth generous riesling fruit components and a refreshing acidity in the finish. Will benefit from further cellaring. 94+

Fortunately found two last bottles of this some days ago in a retail shop, as I am not willing to cellar them for longer with their vintage-fellows from 2014 pnp the first now, still extremly young, stony nose, zesty aromas, on the palate a very intense dry Riesling showing, vibrating minerality, a whiff of ripe stonefruit in the background, this bottle is far away from being harmonic, but somehow feminin electric midbodied, stunning mouthfilling salinity, one of the best bottles ever from Dönnhoffs Dellchen GG, ending with a long+ aftertaste and demanding acidity, if you like this, pop one bottle from now on or wait for a more balanced showing 3+ year up to a decade, **(**-?), 91- 93+?

VDP- presentation at Berlin: citrus driven, animating, feminine, subtle, young my favourite GG of Dönnhoff, wait at least 3 years to really enjoy this wine, (***- *?), (90-92?)

Slightly unusual almost fizzy feel on opening. Complex. Savoury flavours. Interesting.

For once it looks like Dellchen is just ahead of Hermannshöhle this vintage. Profound Riesling in the making.
