My last of these. Similar to previous notes but a bit more open than I remember. Showed better on the 2nd day - more fruit expression and sweetness coming through. Feels very traditional.

Hard to rate this as it still feels quite closed which seems to be typical for this producer which really needs more time than most. Also, I've always struggled a bit with the '14 vintage. Held up ok on day 3, but the fruit was a bit more muted. One to forget about for another ten years.
Intense and meaty exuding plum, blackberry, leather and cigar box. Aromatic, medium to full bodied, well balanced and medium well integrated tannins. Finish is lenghty and meaty. Good right bank merlot predominantly blend. NI:4, FI:22, FC:8, B:4, L:4

This was slightly muted at first, with medium tannins and forest floor, but it opened after some decanting in a rich taste of boysenberry and cassis, with undertones of oak. Very smooth. Fruit was more pronounced on the second day. Drinking great now, probably has a couple years left in it.

Light to medium bodied, on the lighter side for a Bordeaux. It is easy to drink, almost feels like a good Pinot Noire with complexity that of a cab. Semi-dry and well-balanced, east to drink by itself or with Brie or havarathi cheese. On the mid-palate you get notes of fresh fruit, berries, vanilla and bit of black pepper. It has a short ending with decent amount of tannins.

A rather light wine that was pleasant to drink but not particularly complex. Didn't develop much over two hours in bottle and glass. Light bodied. Forgot to take notes on the nose, but mostly light fruits and vanilla as far as I can recall. Will not buy again.

Very light, as has been said. Pleasant, faintly enjoyable, but weak flavor, watery, no depth, length or complexity. At dinner with friends it was generally enjoyed, especially in comparison to the grocery store wine on hand. So if it is free, it can be enjoyed, but at the $40 price I paid, I will not buy it again, unless there is a 2 for 1 sale.
From reading reviews here, I had intended to buy the 2015, but at the store I learned that one has higher alcohol ( 2014: 13.5%, 2015: 14%), which is presumably responsible for the higher rating, but not a good reason for it in my opinion. Maybe I was wrong to go with the 2014, but I am reluctant to pay even more for the 2015 when this one was so disappointing and already overpriced.

A smooth bouquet, round, maybe a bit too ripe (?); the taste is firm and sound, no commercial Merlot, The concentrated aftertaste promises maybe a nice future

Plush cherry and blueberry fruit with a touch of herbs and lots of vanilla and chocolate on the finish. Bright orangey acidity. An attractive wine, but not profound. Good for the price. It probably would have been better with additional bottle age.

1 hour decant. Deep mostly opaque garnet. Nose of smoke, cedar, those little yellow flowers that grow in the grass (weed?), and rosemary. Tangy and tart with raspberry and cranberry dominating over earthy peppery tones. Medium to high acidity and tannins. Medium bodied. About 89-90.

Medium bodied, elegant, fresh, soft textured wine, with a sweet, plum and cherry core of fruit, hints of thyme, espresso, flowers and dark chocolate. This should be easy to drink young. The wine was made from a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting Bordeaux from bottle in New York City (Cipriani in New York City): Well, well, well. Possibly one of the very best La Pointes I have tried. Smooth, rich and nuanced, and better than the barrel sample.
