90 Buen color, bastante cubierto aún. Nariz de Rioja clásico, con madera, caja de puros, grafito... En boca mantiene muy buena acidez, es bastante largo. Según se va abriendo salen notas más complejas, fruta roja y especias. Un clásico.

Medium-light ruby red, almost pinot-esque. Aroma a bit rough, and some tannic bite on the palate with first sip. A definite tannin bomb, this either needed more age to mellow or some serious decanting. A bit too much for my taste in the end.

Dinner at Acqua (Acqua Restaurant & Wine Bar, White Bear Lake, MN): Very dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. This was youthful with plenty of new oak showing, tons of anise, and plenty of blackberry and cassis, along with a pleasantly earthy core. This needs several years and plenty of air currently. 89(+?)pts.

Two glasses at Restaurante Hofmann in Barcelona. I liked this Crianza much more than the Tondonia, CVNE and Lan Reservas on the previous days. Beautifully fragrant nose with much more red fruit, a fair bit of oak on the palate but not overdone and well integrated, bright and clear red fruit, medium finish. A really nice wine, and a great lunch.

This wine made me make a wine trip to La Rioja, which I still don't regret! Every sip I take reminds of of that beaitful region. The wine smells like heaven, and tastes as good.

Just tried a bottle of this vintage, because I did like this beginner Reserva from LaRA too. needs a lot of air though, better on the second day, fullbodied..... so a change of style? typical LaRA aromas, but for me lacking complexity, very concentrated dark fruit, some spices, long, maybe needs cellaring, but the unusual high alc.- grading which leads to a somehow sweet fruit I do dislike, **(*?), 85- 88+?

Dark fruity nose and palate. Some sweetness on the mid palate. It ends with notes of cocoa and some minerality.

Quite ripe and sweet with piles of American oak, per the standard for this bottling. I'd give it some time to come together.
