Medium to dark purple with minimal garnet. Medium fruit and cedar notes. Palate is good dark cherry and cedar with a hint of green. Big acid and fine tannins with a long finish. Opened 3 hours prior which seems close.

Blueberry, redcurrant, raspberry jam and some ground pepper on the nose. The medium-bodied palate continues with the same ingredients, adding sweetish fruit and decent acidity. Fine-grained tannins and a long finish, tapering towards the fruit and spices. This is a successful marriage of attractive sweet fruit and solid structure, coupled with some spiciness. Drink now if you want still to catch the last rays of the sweet primary fruit, or hold if you want the more serious side to emerge. Also, an excellent burger wine.

Finale moyenne. Le lendemain, c’est beaucoup plus équilibré. On goûte davantage le sucre. Un drôle de vin pour un Syrah américain de WA.

Decanted and drank over about 90 minutes. Was very rough for the first 20-30 minutes, but changed noticeably and then was a real stunner for the final hour or so. We can think of other Syrahs that would perform better from start to finish, but not too many can do this well at this price point.

Third of three bottles, once again a 90 Syrah. This is a smooth, elegant and mouth-filling Syrah, but short of being overly mouth-filling- it is neither that and thankfully not an overly-extracted fruit bomb. Just a great Washington state Syrah (and wow do they make a lot of great Syrah in different styles) for a GREAT price. Would drink by next year, at latest, didn't note much, if any oak.

This is a solid 90 and ready to drink now, let it breathe and decant and it will satisfy! Yes, drink now. Can not speak to more recent vintages, but they may be worth a try. This is a collaboration between Chateau St Michelle of Wa and Michael Gassier of France. Perfect marriage! This had characteristics of both Rhone and Washington state Syrah. Mouth-filling and fruit forward, but not overly robust, not overly-extracted like some Wa Syrahs can be and not overly fruit-forward like some French or Aussie Rhone wines can be. Elegant, but not timid. In between medium and full-bodied. Paired perfectly with grilled teriyaki chicken and stir-fried rice. Yes, you can grille in the winter in Colorado...some, certainly not all days.

Agree with all the recent entries, this is a solid 90 and ready to drink now, but suggest 1 hour decant for best results. This had characteristics of both Rhone and Washington state Syrah. Mouth-filling and fruit forward, but not overly robust, not overly-extracted like some Wa Syrahs can be. Elegant, but not timid. In between medium and full-bodied. Might be overwhelmed by very spicy or other strong flavored food. We had with grilled lamb steak with mint sauce, paired well.

Silky-textured raspberry and blueberry fruit with violets, black olive, sweet fennel and just a hint of garrique. It's New World fruit that shows the intention of its Old World makers without ending up tasting Australian. Very nice.

Really interesting experience with this wine. Already dissed it after first try. Had a couple of glasses and thought it was a boring flat one note juice with something bitter hiding at the end. I let it sit 2 days with a vacuum cork and tried it again tonight. Totally different wine tonight. Quite good. Much more depth. Not a one note wonder. Still have a glass in the bottle for another night...

Took about 2-3 hours to open up, when it did dark fruits came through along with a heavy dose of pepper & oak spice. It's really an Awesome wine that's filled with layers of flavor but it needs more time to sit. As the wine opens up you get a taste of a syrupy layer of that dark fruit, the syrupyness is still kind of slightly hidden but it's just waiting to pop! In 2-3 more years this wine should be Outstanding!!!

Passover at friends (Val and Rons): This was very nice. I recently had the 14 at HdR at it was nice as well. Black raspberries with some olives on the nose. Slightly meaty. On the palate, there is nice black raspberry fruit. Starting to show some concentration. Good finish. Good value here.

I'd like to add something pithy to gravedee's review, but he hit it out of the park on the way to what sounds like a som exam. There's a slightly sour, reduced cherry flavor to the wine purists will love. I wouldn't have minded just a hint of residual sugar, but that doesn't invalidate the wine or its rating in a major publication.

Blind tasted. The wine is deep purple, high concentration. It smells like ripe stewed dark fruit, with a some floral and cotton candy notes. The nose is complex and pleasant. I pick up some citrus as well. Full body with soft tannins, supple mouthfeel. Acid is present med(+). Flavor is concentrated with dark fruit. Heat is med+, finish is long. Complexity is med. I pick up some earthy notes. Oak is med. The wine is a bit hot but in balance and pleasant to drink. 91

Picked this up for $20 which is a ridiculous value. Full bodied syrah with notes of blackberry, tobacco smoke, allspice, & vanilla. Tannins are very present at the moment, indicating you can drink this now (if you like it like that) or hold for a good long time. Heck for $20 you can drink some now and buy a few extra bottles to squirrel away. That's what I'm going to do.

This is an approachable beast, it is ready now but will probably last another 7-10 years. It has plum and raspberry on the nose, deep purple in color and very well balanced. Dried cocoa powder up front and a hint of spice in the finish. I picked this up for $17 a bottle, amazing wine for the price.

I'm holding off on a rating until I try another bottle, as this first bottle may be off. Decanted for 15 minutes. Nose offered a bit of barnyard funk, somewhat old world style. Tastes were dark berries, leather, a slightly harsh finish. Drinkable but not what I'd classify as good. Certainly not what I expected from a Top 100 WS wine. Hopefully 2nd bottle will be better.
Not a traditional Syrah blended with 3% Grenache, 2% Mourvedre, 1% Viognier. The wine looks garnet colored. It tastes like cherry. This is a collaboration between Chateau Ste. Michelle, French winemaker Michel Gassier and enology expert Philippe Cambie.

Dark magenta to purple color. Nose explodes with plum compote and big vanillas initially, but the vanillas burn off and reveal more complex bread, spice and leather notes. Smoky tea, olive tapenade, dried violets. Mouthfeel is dense, but a nice balance between coat and restrained alcohol. I would instantly buy this again, it's very, very good.

Punches above its weight class IMO. Not a giant fruit bomb at all and showed decent balance and complexity. An enjoyable wine and it seems like it would do well with food as well.

2015 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/19/2015-10/27/2015 (New York City, NY): Opaque crimson and intensely aromatic, this wine (a blend of 94% Syrah, 3% Grenache, 2% Mourvedre and 1% Viognier) serves up boysenberries, violets, dark plums and smoke on the nose, followed by similar flavors on the palate. Full-bodied, fresh and without alcoholic heat (14.3%), it has firm tannins and good mid-palate density. The finish is medium-to-long and a touch astringent at this point. A bit of cellar time is warranted. Drink 2018-2025.

fills the nose with scents of olives, grilled meats and macerated cherries, comes with a dark personality, flavors of mocha, coffee, blackberry and spice fill the mouth, pulls Washington Syrah characteristics and delivers them with dark elegance, this new find is an incredible value and works with food too, BBQ beef would work well, don't be afraid to decant this bad boy

Pop and pour. Rich purple color. Dark berries with a hint of Cotten candy on the nose. Dark fruit on the initial attack of blueberries and blackberries with sweetness but not too sweet. Enough tannins on the back in to provide good structure. Hints of apple and cranberry on the medium long finish. Best by itself. Not too jammy.

Drank over three days and it showed best on the third. Though decidedly New World in style, the French influence comes through. A little less fruity and it would drink like a Costières de Nîmes.

Very smooth. Dark berry and Chco bark. Tasty stuff- with some secondary flavors with a hint of herb and dried granola. Well worth the coin.

Great color, medium acid, strong earth tones w dark cherry to berry notes. It opened very nicely after 2 hours and better still after 4+ hours. A good value

Very nicely balanced between ripe lush fruit, mineral and acids. Dark berries followed by fresh herbs, mineral/earth streak through the middle and vibrant finish and paired well with steaks.

Big tannins through a one hour observation in the glass. Cherry and chocolate with hints of tobacco. Nice complex wine but can be cellared for several years. Phenomenal qpr.

Very nice bottle - MUCH better than my 1st bottle. Big, bold, smooth. Inky black, complex nose of dark berries, dust, slight old world funk. Very nice wine, especially after 2 hours. Deserving of recognition.

Dark as ink, full bodied with a firm, chewy structure. Notes of dark berries, creme brulee, vanilla. Velvety tannins. Delicious, by itself and with food. Will be picking up more.

Lived up to its hype after a couple of hours of air. Deep purple in the glass, with loads of dark fruit, dark vanilla and spice. Good value that seems to be available everywhere. If scoring, 89-91.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry. It tastes like black pepper. The body is medium/full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

That bottle is a hoot! (sorry I had to do it)

Interesting nose with mint, chocolate, a little manure. Dense sweet fruit with nice spiciness. Balanced by somewhat muted acidity and tannin. The fruit made it seem more new world than old to me, but I thought it was delicious.
