Coonawarra Roadshow (Masonic Hall, Goulburn street): "Served blind Blackcurrant, plums, sweet spice, mint, talcy tannins, fresh, flavours as per nose, long, balanced, quite elegant. Nice. This was still quite primary but is integrated so, under screwcap, that could mean anywhere between 7 - 10 years old. I went with 2014 and successfully identified this as the Pyrus "

Day 1: Hallmarks of a good medium bodied red but just too young for me. Acid is poking above everything else, more so than the tannin. Definitely a food wine. Under screwcap this needs another 5 years to soften and mellow out to a nice tertiary phase. Screwcaps are a 2 edged sword, aren't they? No cork taint but slower development. finish is a tad too short and twist of astringency which is less welcome. Day 2: Stable, no change.

Dense dark core with a light crimson hue. Dry spicy aroma, tomato bush, pepper, turmeric, dark fruit. Plum, blueberry, milk chocolate. Powdery persistent tannin, fresh acidity. Medium to full body, long finish. Requires a good decanting, still requires a few more years for my taste for the tannin to soften. Good quality, long life ahead.

Needed a few days to open up. Lovely creme de cassis, blackberries, plums, coffee cream, spices, cedar and tobacco. Very dark in colour. Plush and silky smooth structure with grippy medium tannin. Well balanced with a pinch of aniseed and pepper on a sustained finish.

Rich red fruits, juicy. More malbec than franc? Vanila oak. Tannins firm but not overbearing. A bit short on the finish. Needs plenty of time but I can't see it being great. Still pretty good value it it can be found at a discounted price.

TWE 2016 Expo: Sandalwood, incense, smoke and cherry. Nice red fruits, with good tannins providing the structure. I like the medium bodied profile and this should improve over time.

Lots of brooding power, inky, fruity, with the Malbec clearly evident

Peter Bourne GWT Limestone Coast Cabernets Star Performers Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): Medium minus intensity aromas of polished oak, sightly meaty, red and black currant. In the mouth the wine is juicy with red and black currant, fine silky tannins, it dries out a little and doesn't carry and fruit. Nah
