not alot of experience with older brunello, but this was tasty. maybe a bit simple. hoping for more secondary flavors. still plent of fruit and maybe a bit primary. I guess I needed to wait another decade or so

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over almost two hours.
Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of aspirin, flowers, earth, berries and plums. Flavors of red berries, cherries and cocoa powder. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannin, full bodied. Drink now.

Very dark red color. Wonderful complex bouquet with overtones of dry earth and leaves. Initially a bit rough and brawny on the palate. After an hour or so, it softened a bit and showed ripe red fruit and a bit of complexity. Has several more years of life ahead of it.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium/high acid with chewy tannins. The structure is certainly youthful with a coarseness to the tannins. Beneath the structure lies deep tones of red cherries, dark red berries, incense, violets, and some roasted herbs.
Overall: This received about 2 1/2 hours of air, but it was still a bit fussy. That said, what was there was utterly gorgeous and this felt like more time would substantially benefit it.

Decanted. Started opening up at about 45 mins. Plenty of fruit and tannin left. Plenty of years left on it. One of my favorite brunellos, glad I have more!

Brunello di Montalcino - Decanter FW Experience (London): From Castiglione in the NW corner. Manachiara is facing SE. This vineyard was bought in the 1950s and at the time produced poor wines. By the 70s the wines had improved and they bought Poggodorinro, a single vineyard in the NE. Deep internsity of ruby red colour. The nose shows undergrowth, tobacco and plum fruit. Whilst the palate was fleshy and creamy in texture it was simpler than the Salicutti and less complex. Has a lively acid and saline finish.

Medium red, showing signs of age. Light nose of cherry and cigar. Still has noticable levels of tannins along with flavors of cigar and red fruit. Could still lay down for a few more years or allow to open up over an hour or two.

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Opened and served immediately.
Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of aspirin, berries, cherries, leather and flowers. Rich berry flavors, cherries and raspberries. Bright acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Drink or hold. I'd hold a little longer to let it keep fleshing out in the bottle.

Hints of dark fruit on the nose with minerals and dust, a palate of bubble gum, pepper and anise, nice finish. It really drinking well right now but feels like it has some legs as well.

Assertive earthy raspberry; structured; youthful; tannins there; later robust and textured with cherry and length.

Chicago Italian Lovers round 9- 99 Brunellos for the first anniversary of the group (Vinci, Chicago): Nose: This was wound up a bit tight at first, but when it opened up there were roses, violets, licorice, roasted herbs, cherries, incense. While the nose was tight, there was a lot of depth and complexity that would peek through.
