Color is approaching a dark golden, but no oxidation here. Rounded but serious with citrus and melon. Some secondary spice and floral notes. A really nice drinking experience right now.

Almost Burgundyesque, or more precisely like a Chassagne. Moderately rich, close to full bodied. Lemon and hints of peach, touch of honey, vanilla and a hint of butterscotch. Medium length and straightforward. Drink now and over the next 5 to maybe 10 years.

WTDS at Tilia (Tilia, Mpls): Almost medium gold in color. PNP, drank a glass over 2 hours and again 2 nights later. The story here is this still benefits from air. The first night this kept getting better and better. I think some thought it might be oxidative, but that was not the case. A little sweet on the nose, cream, almond pastry, anise, and fennel notes, pear,. This adds a richer baked apple note the next day. Full bodied, pear, oily and well textured, honeycomb, lemon oil, still steely in its minerality, long and mouth coating. I won;t be inany hurry to open my others. 92 day one and 93 day 2/3.

This is a typical oaked California Chardonnay so it is a style that you have to like. I am okay having one of these only occasionally because it is not my preferred style of wine. Having said that, it is well made with good citrus fruit, oak and a buttery finish.

Popped and poured. Pear and jasmine aromas with hints of citrus and stone underneath. Full-bodied and bright, with pear, stone, lemon and apple and a lingering finish. Love these chardonnays from Mount Eden.

Freshened up with some air, but really heavy butter and woody notes. Ripe fruit, medium acid. Well done but just not in my wheelhouse anymore--would never confuse this for a Burgundy.

Social Distancing Outdoors with Sushi & Pizza (Craig & Nita's Place): Medium gold color. PNP, drank a glass plus over 90 minutes. Nice fruit on the nose, ripe pear, citrus, butter brickle, stone. The palate starts out full bodied, lemon, lemon confit, lemon oil texture, round and beautifully balanced and texutre, graceful, stone, hints of vanilla creme brulee, spices, long finish. This was lovely and somewhat mindful of Meurault. 92+ to 93pts.

Kevin's btl with a few buddies outside under our maple tree with sushi. Said to have seen 70% new oak and aged on its lees. Light gold color. At first I was frankly not impressed as the oak spice was poking through and this started out very weighty and CA Chard like. about 30 minutes later this wine took on significantly better overall balance & depth. It seems to drop weight and pick up energy, elegance and finesse. 89pt start 93pt finish. Quite good and a pleasant surprise as I'm all about the ME reds and have had mixed results with the whites. 92-93

This wine supposedly undergoes ML. I wouldn't call it buttery but nicely mouth coating. It does appear to have mild acidity. Golden color. Enjoyable but expensive.

This is a lovely California Chardonnay with lots of citrus fruit, including lemon and lemon curd, plus some oak (or vanilla notes), which is in balance, and nice minerality for a New World wine. It has a nice medium to long finish and it is a full bodied wine with lots of complexity.

Tonight. The wine appears to be a product of more steel barrel and less wood. Once again more mineral driven and citrus. A decent wine which is built to age more than just 4 years. For now it is well crafted but clearly less oaked style.

Wonderful, rich and buttery Chardonnay. Reminded me of a Mer Soleil on steroids, with a similar taste profile. Had w/ baked scallops and roasted vegetables.

Still feels young and energetic, with lemon, apple, and pear flavors commingling on a bed of medium acidity. Hints of oak and minerality provide additional depth.

Dinner with Wendy, Simon, Larry, Susan @ Eno Terra in Princeton. Corkage friendly place, great staff. 2 bottles, nicely chilled, first wines of the evening.
Medium gold color. Nose showing, apple, caramel, mild oak. Palate is viscous and rich showing citrus, apricots, orange zest and floral notes. Wine improved with air time, finish got richer with a caramel, creme brûlée.
Noting agin that the air time made a difference, this is drinking well now but may be better with a few more years in the cellar

My first bottle from this vintage. Needed air upon opening. Had less intensity and energy than the prior vintages (2011-2013). Unclear if it's just too young or best consumed soonish; revisit in 6-12 months.

Delicious. Darker golden color. Fruit is still very present but with a lot of complexity. Not heavy on oak or butter at all. Barely noticable. An excellent wine right now. Recommended.

This rich and viscous Chardonnay is drinking a little past its peak right now, assuming you are on the lookout (as I am) for noticeable fruit and bright acidity. This offers a more oily and honeyed approach. It's nice, but tired. More generally, it's one of those wines that I wonder if I'll ever catch at the right time - tight in the beginning, muddled at the end - so much so that it makes me wonder why I keep on trying.
Golden yellow in color and medium in body, the wine smells like butterscotch, almond, and pear. Tastes of cantaloupe, creme brulee, and vanilla shine through, with an oily mouthfeel and creamy finish, followed by a touch of acidity. 13.5% alcohol. Drink now.
When I first got into wine about 12 years ago, Mount Eden was one of the first wines that showed me what aged CA Chardonnay could be (along with a Kistler McCrea). I've revisited this wine every once and awhile, just for old time's sake, but I've never quite recaptured the magic; it's always seem a bit too laid back and oily. To paraphrase Bob Seger, I wish I didn't taste now what I didn't taste then - or something like that.

I let the wine breathe two hours after opening. Kept it cold. Complex scents and flavors opened up. There is some oak and some butter, but subordinate to the excellent fruit. Good acidity helped the long finish.
Warm, savory nose influenced but not dominated by oak with spiced apple, chamomile, and crushed stone. Plush, soft texture carries melon and orange oil flavors, finishing with a pretty floral note marred by oak-derived tannin. A pretty wine. (Bottle number 00113)

The nose was wonderfully pretty with ripe apple, ginger spices, stone dust and perfumed florals. On the palate, I found soft textures giving way to ripe apple, melon and inner floral tones with hints of roasted hazelnut and minerals. The finish was mineral-laden and long with lingering acids and dried floral tones.

More mineral driven and citrus than I expected. Last bottle was more mellowed and bLanced. Now that is not to say that this wine will not balance itself over the next year. I suspect it will.
For now it is well crafted but clearly less oaked style.

Light lemony mineral nose with a hint of oak and a whisper of citrus rind and beeswax, round on the palate with deeply charged fruit, crisp acid backing, precise progression into a lingering acid finish. Delicious.
