Flat out delicious pinot noir. Dark fruit, lots of coffee, typical RRV soy/umami. Really smooth, silky feel, seamless. Drinking great right now. Very modern and stylish. This is about as good as California pinot gets.

Winter in Wineland; 1/14/2017-1/20/2017 (Sonoma & Napa): Much more of a heavy Pinot-style. Get some darker red fruits and soy sauce. For the style it works well, but to me it felt too much like a Pinot trying to be a Cab or a Syrah.
Happy to find this when again in IL. Full bodied Pinot that is not for the faint hearted. Cola, spice, tea and bold red fruits. Enjoyed and will pick up more.

Notes over 2 nights: Dark ruby, med-full body. Strong nose, well balanced with appropriate acidity delivering pinot flavor richness, modest tannin in the background. Uncomplicated yet satisfying. After drinking the 2012 Horseshoe Bend and underwhelmed as my first Davis, this was a very nice surprise. In short, this is a highly enjoyable pinot to open now (and for next few years). Nice to have at a cheaper price - sometimes found this quality @ lower $$ - but worth buying. I'm planning on picking up a case. However, it is very good.
Nov 3, 2016 I continue to like this wine more than the Soul Patch while noting the SP has had a more interesting finish. As it should, this wine is more enjoyable now. When I opened tonight's bottle I thought 91, but it has faded a little. My counsel is go for it over the next few years. I can see myself returning to it in the future. The Soul Patch ... not so much, even while acknowledging its virtues. Viewers ... it's me. The SP is not my style, too much oak, not about ripeness. Chevillon NSG have been as ripe as any on the market.

Lots of bright cherry flavors, sweet red fruit, soy, bright acidity, baking spices, oak and some tannins. Drank young but well.
Could age this for more complexity.
