An IGT Toscana blend of 60% Sangiovese and 40% Syrah from Maremma vineyards. Medium (+) ruby with some purple hues. The nose is clean, with ripe, red cherries, black fruit, dried herbs, some savory spices and a hint of oak spice. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%) and medium tannins. This is a very nicely balanced, international-style blend which appealed to tasting group, probably thanks to the little bit of French barrique finish. It is a very good value in the $13-$16 range. By now the tannins and fruit are well integrated. It is drinking well and should continue to do so for several more years. Gold and <$30 Class Champion at the HLS&R.

Very dark color (Syrah) Smells of berries, and cloves. Slightly peppery. Decent length on the finish. I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice for the price.

Fresh berries and cream, somewhat modern nose. Raspberry palate, feminine, silky. Fairly modern. However, after a long day and several days without wine, this is warming me up nicely right now.

A fairly inexpensive wine we had at Tratoria in Staten Island.
It has a fairly predictable nose of sweet prunes and asphalt which remind me of a Syrah. Yet the flavor is much more sweet cherry. Short finish and nothing to write home about. A generally unoffensive wine. This is a blend of syrah and sangiovese.

Another popular wine that we have tasted for many vintages. Many vintages ago, I perceived this offering as kind of a gimmick and relatively simple. This 2012 is definitely not simple. I do have some wonder why this 2012 is still around on the retail shelves. Nicely approachable and fruit forward. The Syrah is ripe and lush, the Sangiovese brings some tart cherry influence. Mostly red fruit flavors. Balanced. Mouth filling. The finish is strong, fruity and natural.

Color: pitch with trace blood red tinge. Almost no translucency. Nose: Light citrus and candied raisins. Slight tartness by the end. Flavor: grape fruit, dried cranberries, and French oak on the front with some bark. Chewy tannins and good complexity throughout. Finish is smooth, and full. Linger is a good while. Full bodied.
Good Italian sangiovase and syrah blend.

Deep plum with heavy legs. Nose is candied plum and fig with cinnamon. Palate is dried dark fruit, cinnamon and a bit of a tart finish. Nice combination of old world and new world. Paired pretty well with flat bread pizza.

interesting blend that showcases syrah more than sangiovese in a fruit driven international style.
bright tangy medium body with sticky tannins and a decent finish. minimal oak interferance is noticable right away and demands a little time in the glass but tasty dark fruit opens with air.
nose and palate of candied black cherry, blackberry preserves, a whiff of black olive and black pepper from the syrah. the steel aging showcases a lively orange peel note throughout and lifts the ripe fruit, while the slight french oak aging provided whiffs of chocolate and espresso.
not necessarily traditional but this was a fun little wine. absolutely new world and fruity but well structured.

Gouleyant, fruité, intense et un peu de sucré résiduel qui rappelle un Zinfandel

Very drinkable blend. Dark rich fruit but not jammy. This will go with most meals.
