Lucked into this on offer at the Bedrock tasting room in November 2023. Bought a few bottles which have all made me wish that I had cellared more Bedrock. Totally open for business. Dark and red fruits coupled with smooth tannins. Finish that makes you want to go back for more.

This was my third bottle of this in the last couple months. One at home, a tasting in Sonoma, and this one. I *think* this was the bottle I bought in the tasting room. This one had a subtle, but present funk on the nose that the others did not have. It was good, but it may have had just a touch of bret or something.

Generous nose of blackberry, bramble. full bodied with good acidity. great mouthfeel. Blackberry, raspberry, savory notes. There is a juiciness that I find from Carlisle vineyards (from both Carlisle and bedrock) that is present. Tasty wine. drank over two days with the last glass the best. I'll echo, it's a in a good place with time left for sure.

No hint that this is 9 years old. The nose shows a lot of dark plum. There was some heat but it blew off and that decanter after 15 minutes. Definitely leaning towards the pomegranate and cranberry flavors with medium plus acidity. Solid cedar note across the palate. Very nice.

This continues to show well. The Carlisle Vineyard is a consistent source for wonderful zins and, not surprisingly, Morgan does a great job with the fruit.

Lush and vibrant with a complex dark fruit profile of cassis and blackberry. Long and satisfying finish with hints of black cracked pepper. Decanted a half hour before serving but could done so earlier.

A wonderfully complex yet delicious bottle of wine (feel like that sums up most wines from the Carlisle Vineyard). Cranberry, purple fruits, florals, spice, and everything nice. It was solid on day 1, but significantly better on day 2. Decant heavily or hold. It's worth it! As always, thanks for making us smile Morgan and Chris!
drinking beautifully now glad i held off drinking this and wish i had bought more . wonderful nose jammy, fruit forward and just a pleasure to drink paired well with roast beef dinner. this has a lot of life left in it and if i had more i would be in no hurry to drink this vintage up. Lesson learned since then.... buy a minimum of 3 bottles just in case it turns out to be awesome like this!

The 2014 Bedrock Carlisle Vineyard is drinking beautifully today. Red and black fruit, perfumed flowers, strawberries, and cherry jolly rancher flavors burst from the glass. Tannins are smooth and rounded, making this easy to drink. Give this one more year for the oak to better integrate and then it is off to the races.

Decanted half the bottle on day one and drank the other half day two - similar notes. Beautiful violet color in the glass, long legs (14.9%), solid acidic backbone, raspberries and licorice on the nose. Medium finish. This bottle drank well with a decant and didn’t lose anything after 24 hours of opening. I would guess this bottling has at least another five years left of drinking. At $40ish/bottle at release, the QPR is good.

Plum and blackberry fruit with a touch of licorice. Nice brambly zin. Ripe and even a little sweet, but it cut through pasta sauce and spicy Italian sausage.

Beautiful plum color. Fresh berry nose. Hit of red fruit on the tip of the tongue. Also, interestingly, immediate detection of salinity. Very noticeable acid and tannin. Very much an unrestrained Zin--noticeable bramble and rusticity. 👍👍👍

Even better than the first bottle. We drank this bottle faster because it was so good. In some ways, it was hard to believe it was Zinfandel in the bottle.

Bright red in color. 14.9% ABV. Stunning nose of bright red fruits, orange zest, licorice and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Deftly walks the line between Claret Style and modern style Zinfandel. Well balanced. Raspberry compote, black cherry and white pepper on the palate. The finish is exceptionally long and spicy. Just a brilliant Zinfandel and what I envision when I picture Bedrock at its very best. Drink over the next 2-3 years.

On the nose a classic zinfandel metallic heat, with an under note of blueberries and blackcurrants. Generous aromatic fruit on the palate, a bit of alcoholic heat, some nice trailing acids. Excellent with blue cheese. 50 + 17 + 16 + 8 = 91.

Didn’t show well tonight, the color was a gorgeous purple, but that’s about all this wine had going for it. Didn’t giving away much on the nose and some bitterness on the mid-palate. Certainly not the bramble fruited, spicy zin I was expecting. Disappointing.

PNP. Consumed over two + hours. Very nice. no formal notes. Bright and crisp in the Bedrock house style. Drinking pretty well now...not tannic or tight at all. Enjoyable and feels like a 91-93 range wine. Only have two bottles, so note to self, save the other bottle for a few years.

Acquerello (San Francisco): Restrained and a bit muted for a California Zinfandel. Not much going on here at the moment. As a stand-alone wine, this was fairly forgettable. Good vineyard source, but nothing compared to what Mike Officer would otherwise do with his Carlisle vineyard. This Bedrock was thin and hollow mid-palate.
My least favorite pairing of the night. The bison, porcini mushrooms, cipolline, herb torta, and offal-game sauce dish was beautifully rich and harmonious. The wine turned it a little clunky. A BDX or even a Rhone Syrah (with some nice minerality and a drier cut) would have likely elevated this dish more.

14.9% abv. Dark ruby. Intense flavors belie modest aromas. Cherry, black cherry, cassis, spice and a hint of white pepper. Rich, deep and high toned. An excellent rendition of Carlisle that should age very well.

Deeply pitched violet color. Bedrock's Zinfandels deliver plenty of power, but with a perfect amount of restraint. The cork might have been pulled way too soon on this one, but it displays a lovely sense of balance in youth. Powerful dark fruit with a bright acidity marked by sweet, yet firm tannic structure. Texturally this coats your palate with a full body. It brings layers of dark berries & savory notes which become delineated with additional time in the glass. There is a finesse here, but the story is more about the power and the two ideas co-exist in this wine.
Bedrock's output is frankly staggering. So many wines from different sites. The detail & nuance on these really sets them apart from many Zin/Mixed black field blends. There's a rhythm to the power in this wine. It is consistent in the glass & charges the energy in the meal it accompanied. It hits a chime of a high tone though which was unexpected. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves with other bottles.
