This wine is still drinking beautifully. Pleasing upon opening, with dark berry, and sundried cherry and tomato and also red clay earthy notes on the nose. Then after 10-15 minutes, it seemed to turn negatively toward an overly oxidative place. Then after half an hour, this wine deepened in intensity and complexity driving it toward balance with its fresh acidity yet delicately concentrated red berry core and earthy black and red tar and mineral backbone. The resolving/ resolved tannins still give it structure and length in the mouth. And the nose continues to impress and evolve. Dark leather, and olive and fruity tar and tree leaves. Raisins and tomatoes all just perfectly concentrated by the sun's rays. A juicy freshness permeates and makes this wine a star.

Nose much more muted than other tasters experienced. Even over 6 hours decanted, it did not offer up the classic "barolo nose". Still, nice flavors with subtle tannins, good integration of acidity.

Fragrant, dark berry flavors with black pepper and earthy, forest-floor notes. Only a faint memory of silky tannins. It diddn't have the depth of character I expect from barolo, but it was still delicious.

From 375, PnP. A dark copper/light ruby color, 80% opaque with broad fading at the rim. Wonderful plum and ripe strawberry nose with dashes of garrigue and talcum. Acidity is still clean and fresh, medium-light body, and big mature tannins. Nothing forward about the fruit and it's probably in slow decline but at a great stage right now. Long finish. (5+12+15+7) = 89

Surprisingly approachable upon opening. But still opened and balanced out over several hours. Wonderful vibrant nose of dark berry and plum. Very well balanced tannins and fruit. Great with sun-dried tomato crusted tenderloin. Definitely ready to drink now.

Pale, spicy. Initial sweet fruit gives way to an austerity and dryness which I associate with Barolo. Forward, ready to drink. Very good. The dryness really scrubs your mouth clean. Not especially long or complex but it has a very good balance to it. Real easy to drink as it is light and the tannins have softened sufficiently. A very good entry-level Barolo.

Color is medium intensity, cherry red with orange rim. Medium intensity bouquet of red plum, cinnamon, licorice and tar. Balanced palate, bright acidity and supple tannins. Spice, cherry and chocolate flavors with a medium finish.

Tasted at VinItalyUSA last week. One of the best Barolo at this event. There was a little alcohol on the nose but nothing that distracted from the wine. An integrated and balanced wine. An earthy character with marinated mushroom notes among the cherry and plum. Long finish. 92-93 points.

100% nebbiolo. The name Tortoniano takes its name from the Tortonian geological area characterised by sedimentary clay and Sant’ Agata marl interspersed with grey-blue sandstone. Very intense kernels nose. Pure and clean on the palate. I prefer the Cerequio. Very Good Indeed.

Review similar to most recent. An amazing bottle. In a beautiful place right now. Almost opera like.

Ruby with orange rim. Mushrooms, plum & oak on nose. Bone dry & very tannic, but low acidity & alcohol. On palate: plum, minerality, sweet spices.

nose subdued and subtle. Great balance and dryness (as others have mentioned). I found the tannins were firm. Good wine.

Great dark berry flavor, not too fruity, earthy enough that it went great with chicken stuffed with crab and mushrooms with brandy cream sauce.
