Excellent chateauneuf-du-pape, decanted using the aerator and served with a regular dinner Saturday at home - grilled ribeye with a Mediterranean rub; brussel sprouts in butter sauce and shoepeg corn niblets. This wine complimented the meal excellently and wasn't overpowered by the steak. The wine starts off slightly spicy and then moves to roasted red pepper flavors, the finish has some tannins but is relatively simple though enjoyable.

A very good Rhone blend. Lirac does deliver value and at this price its a steal. Drinking excellent right now. Nothing over the top, but nice dark fruit, spice, and resolved tannins make for a very delicious wine.

Glad I came back to this. Opened 3 days ago and thought it was pleasant, if uninteresting. I didn't even finish the glass. Tonight, much more alive, some pretty strong tannin, but spice, pepper and earth to go along with the darkish fruit. Still not sure if it is a repurchase, but no longer a disappointment.

Inoffensive, fruity chateauneuf-du-pape. Tasted after a good quality rioja - maybe that was a mistake? - but the rioja knocked it out of the ring in up-front satisfaction as well as depth and complexity.

Nice wine - drinking well now. Could get better, but would recommend drinking now or soon. Nice and spicy, went well with shrimp pasta and chocolate desert.

45% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre. Beautiful and elegant wine. Nicely made with blackberries and smoky cinnamon. A dreamy, dusty earthiness and a good finish. This is a wine that invites contemplation of all manner. It was very nice with our salmon but would be a great companion with lots of other foods -- from cheese through lamb. 14.5% alco (D 7, F 6; DaV)

EXCELLENT Don't let anyone fool you into thinking this is a great Chateauneuf-du-Pape right now. (Actually Route De Chateauneu-du-Pape) This wine is very solid, but is spicey and tannic and too young to drink right now.
The underlyiing Black fruit and hints of Strawberry are faint but should surface with time. There is a muddy aspect, wet dirt, to the nose which is quite nice and the herbal / fruit cross over on the palate lends me to believe five years of cellaring is gonna do this wine some wonders, but right now the spice takes over and runs.
Get a couple and lay them down cause this will be an unreal QPR in 2012!!!!

Lovely wine, very solid value. Medium bodied dark fruits, with a bit of spice. The grenache really shows in this. Wine threw off a surprising amount of sediment, so decant next time. Drank with handmade fettucine in a sauce of mushrooms, sugar snap peas, and prosciutto.

Medium-full bodied wine with good, supporting acidity. Nice typiciaty on the nose and palate - leather, old wood, canned strawberries, black fruit and a little vanilla. Lingering juicy finish with some sweeter coconut notes.

Blind at Sommelier tasting. Clear dark almost opaque core of black cherry of moderate intensity out to a thin eggplant edge and thin watery rim - youthful. Clean candifloss, strawberry and raspberry along with some alcohol and vanilla bean of moderate+ intensity. Youthful and expressive. Dry wine with moderate alcohol, moderate body and acidity and moderate to full tannins. Flavours of cherry, raspberry and some carrot top of moderate+ intensity - youthful flavours. The finish is slightly bitter with some heat from the alcohol and is moderate in length. This is a very well made wine that is fruit forward in style from the Grenache component. Drink now and enjoy but it will develop in the near term (3-5 years) and hold for another 5.

Initially bright red, spicy nose, dark fruits on the palate which is concentrated, medium-bodied and refreshing with some acidity. Very unlike those 2003's. Some length but still very young. Gained some weight and darker colour in the decanter. Very nice but not mind blowing.

Deep dark red color, very good nose of fruit and spice. This year's version has the same 45/40/15 Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre blend but has 14.5% alcohol instead of 15%. A fruit forward wine, but not as big or fruity as last year; still -- very good. More tannic, more acid, brighter and will age longer than 2003. Really an excellent wine for the price. Great QPR. Would make a great house wine if you want a step up from a CdR.
