Accessed using coravin over two days. Lots of sediment ended up clogging the needle so had to take it out, wash it and re insert. Wine is silky something and ready to go. Medium nose light body.

Medium red. The nose is very secondary, forest floor, leather, black cherry and thyme. Delicious creamy feeling cherry, berry and spice flavours and the most approachable finish in any Flaccianello I have had. The flavours are long and the tannins perceptible in the back of the mouth.

This seems to have filled out a great deal since I last tried it five years ago, and came across a lot more like other Flacc vintages: full-bodied, a touch of wood, not entirely red-fruited, but also rather compelling. A Bordeaux-lover's Tuscany, then, even though it's 100% Sangiovese. I was expecting to open the first of my bottles this year, but now I think I'll defer another year (at least).

Intense concentrated black fruit, with mineral backbone, creamy mouthfeel. Will cruise for 20 more years, but for me it's in the sweet spot now, and over the next 5 years.

2 hrs of air. Black cherry, a bit disjointed; reserved fruit medium intensity, medium acid. Not overly complex. My first bottle of this vintage but have had good experience with other vintages. This falls below my expectation.

Not the greatest year; more reserved/floral than the usual release. Found it pretty approachable. Don't think the wine will appreciate much more from aging at this point, but will keep for another 5-10 years. Still a great experience and a lovely wine.

Overrated and definitely overpriced wine. Nurtured this over 3 days with no noticeable improvements. Unless something dramatic happens next decade or so - this remains a disappointment. Not so lovely

No contemporaneous notes and not decanted but it was surprisingly approachable, rich but not cloying, and well balanced. Certainly looking forward to enjoying other bottles in the future.

Sourced this as research for next year’s Tuscany trip. Dark in color and fairly closed on opening. 3 hours in the decanter and had opened nicely, red fruits, floral, some leather and tobacco on the nose, black cherries, spice and black tea on the palate. Slight bitterness to the tannins but not in a bad way. Overall seems young. I think this was a very good wine but I’m not in love with it.
Tried this wine at intervals over the first 3 hours. The fruit comes out in droves at the 2-1/2 - 3 hour mark and is simply wonderful. Prior to that, nothing much so be patient and it will reward!!
Drank much sooner that I’d normally drink a Flaccianello due to the tough vintage. 1 hour decant - wasn’t nearly enough. Drank over 2 hours and while very tight, wine kept improving throughout. In hindsight should have should have given more air or better yet, hold a few years.

Excellent Sangiovese especially in a tougher year for Tuscany. Cassis, leather and spice right out of the gate. Finish was definitely impressive, with consistent fullness and consistency of nose. Drank out of bottle over about 1 hour, nice evolution in that time frame. I would decant if possible, maybe 1-1.5 hours. Very tasty!

nose: Dried red florals, brick dust, light potpourri.
mouth: Juicy dried black cherry and mixed currant notes are interwoven with sweet balsamic and dried tobacco as supple leather and clay flavors announce the endless finish. Finish rolls on seemingly forever, morphing into green tobacco and baked earth notes as it sails on and on.
Overall: Shows nice poise and purity, with a huge finish to match. The meld on these different flavors is impressive: they play beautifully together in spite of being somewhat all over the map. A very valiant effort in a poor year. Drink 2021 - 2037

Wonderful garnet clarity draws you in. Clean cherry nose. Nice depth of acidity, with bitterness giving a cherry pit rather than fruit feel. Tannins are evident but so attractively woven that they also give pleasure. Good to drink now or for a while longer.

100% Sangiovese.

Popped and poured at L' Osteria La Pace restaurant in Chianti. This wine was closed and didn't get much better after an hour of air time. Tannic front and back. I would store this deep in the cellar and not open for another 5-7 years or more.

a nice surprise considering the vintage : rather full-bodied, just a fraction less than in other vintages, also less tannins than in other vintages, nice acidity and spiciness, long aftertaste, drinking window will start sooner and will be a bit shorter than other vintages, great one

More complex and defined, but about the same structure, versus Tignanello 2014 at this stage. Always a pleasure to drink/taste...this is becoming one of my top and favourite Italian wines. Great job in this challenging vintage.

The 2014 Flaccianello della Pieve remains one of the prettiest examples I’ve ever seen of Flaccianello. Here I'm finding a dark bouquet with dried black cherries, hints of sandalwood, spice and savory herbs. On the palate, it displays lean yet focused red berry fruit, a mix of cherry and raspberry, with silky textures giving way to inner floral tones and spice in a pretty and lifted expression. The finish is medium in length and a bit lighter than expected with a mix of tart red fruit and minerals.

The nose showed rich blackberry and cedar with hints of exotic spice. On the palate, I found medium-bodied textures with tart black fruits, herbs and lean acidity. It finished long and structured on violet floral tones, tart blackberry and hints of spice.

A solid Flaccianello, in a style that's quite in my wheelhouse in that it's the lighter side of full-bodied. Good energy, developing tension, this just screams 'let me sleep' today. The fruits show a good balance of dark-red/red, with dry soil tones, minerals, and a timid core of sappy fruit that is likely to emerge with another 3-4 years of rest. Not a powerhouse, this is more in the finesse-driven realm. A joy. HOLD. recommended+
