30 min decant. Deep, dark, electric ruby/magenta color. Stewed blueberry, powdered sugar, oaky vanilla, plant stems, saddle leather and subtle black pepper on the nose. Smooth, dry, mouth filling palate, with good acidity. Full, round tannins on the medium long finish.
The palate and finish were more peppery than the nose, which threw me off a bit. There’s likely some Carmenere in this blend. These were meant to be drank young (I think). This was much better last year.

Three hour decant. Deep, dark, electric magenta color. Boysenberry, no.2 pencil shavings and cocoa powder in a tin can on the rich nose. Smooth, pencil-rich palate. Firm, but rounded tannins on medium short finish that had notes of white pepper. The relatively short finish was the only weakness of this wine.

This is a great blend. It started out tight, but after an hour (and decanting) it was wonderful. For some reason, the 2011 and 2012 seemed better, but this may simply be age. My 2013 bottles experienced some heat (few hours at 90+ F), but there was no apparent flaws to cork, so I think it's OK.

Another fantastic wine from Caldwell. Maybe my favorite rocket science vintage.

Beautiful deep color with good structure, medium body and a little fruitiness; very drinkable!

Not the 2006 or 2009 but still very approachable chocolate backed wine

Not as good as 2009 but has a lot of fruit and very approachable right now
