It took about an hour for this to open up fully, but once it did, it was a lovely combination of power and finesse centered on blackberries with violets and a savory note somewhere in between gravel and tobacco. Not sorry to drink this now. but should be somewhat better in another few years.

I’d previously enjoyed the 2007 vintage of this wine, and as expected, this didn’t disappoint. Deep purple color, full bodied. At nine years, this seems to be in the latter stages of development: fully integrated and balanced structure; intoxicating floral aromatics; red and blue fruits starting to show signs of maturity; complex notes; and a lengthy finish. Finesse and elegance are perfect descriptors. Enjoyed with beef tacos which was complementary. Drink over the next 3-5 years. Excellent.

Acquired on auction. Clear dense purple core with minimal thinning at the rim. Quality nose with intense blackberry, bacon, coffee, and tobacco. Full bodied with loads of fruit yet very balanced. Long berry and bacon finish. Fantastic wine with significant aging potential still.

Bought during a visit to the winery. One of the best malbecs I have ever tasted. A pleasure to drink this. AF wines are expensive but they deliver the joy.

Made of the grapes from 70+ year old ungrafted vines and with a healthy pH of 3.6 along with a 6,5ish TA, this wine combines a remarkable density, viscosity, complexity and intensity in a powerful yet elegant concoction of super ripe saturated black fruit flavors within a beautiful and aristocratic framing of french oak spice, leather and juniper wood. A perfect and pure finish of almost 50 seconds tops up what is an absolute epitome of Argentinian Malbec, which will enter its drinking window in about 10-15 years and will surely remain on this plateau of maturity for another 15 years or more.
There is no mistake about it - this is as good as Malbec gets, hence a 100 point score.

Outstanding with grilled steak. Well integrated red and black fruits, full mouthfeel and long finish with just enough tannins to complement the steak.

James Suckling - Great Wines of the Andes 2018 (The Presidio, SF): More green, more savory than the '13 Finca Bella Vista, and I prefer this. Interesting sweet savory slight bell pepper mix. Cool. High acid. Medium tannins.

Barrel sample tasting at the winery as this is one month off being bottled. Stunning mouthfeel and purity which will need serious time in the bottle.
