Some signature Coche reductiveness here, but didn’t call this Coche blind. The finish was too short for me and it lacked complexity for what it is. Still very good 🤷🏽♂️

Aligotasting (Utregs Wijnhuis): [Tasted blind] This stood next to Pierre Boisson Aligote 2020 and Pierre Boisson was clearly the better wine. Pale yellow in color with some petrol, white flowers, green apple, some bitter notes. Lean. High acidity, medium+ finish
Part of 10 Aligote’s tasted blind with Anne Boisson, Comte Armand, Pierre Boisson, Coche Dury, Fabien Coche, Nicolas Faure, Charles Lachaux, Cassiopee, Ramonet and Leroy

Phenomenal, steely, nutty, savoury wine which finishes like the most amazingly fresh palate cleanser. Long yet refreshing. Brilliant. 6 years old and just a pup

Very young and fresh, with a hint of petrol reduction and piercing lemon fruit. It is compact, stony and dry. The finish is laden with chalk and saline minerality.

Very enjoyable incredibly precise and focused wine with lemon, lime, minerality gaining some complexity as it warmed up in the glass. Very good but certainly at secondary market prices looking a bit stretched as one might be getting some serious premier or even grand cru white burgs.

A business lunch (Restaurant Fitzgerald *, Rotterdam, NL): Stylistically this is quite different from the 2009, 2010 and 2011 (I haven't tasted the 2012 yet), with less matchstick and oak than in these older vintages. But while the style of winemaking here is maybe not as distinctive as before, the expression of the Aligoté character is beautifully pure and precise. This discreet wine is crisp and silky, quite subtle for an Aligoté, elegant and playful, with lemon and lime fruit and good intensity and length. I am not sure how this will age, but it looks like it has the balance and freshness for a good career.

@ Fitzgerald , Rotterdam: Discreet, elegant nose of citrus fruit. The fresh palate has great purity of lime fruit with fine minerality, balance and power.

A private lunch (Restaurant De Hoefslag *, Bosch en Duin, Netherlands): Raphaël, the son, pursues a somewhat different style than his father Jean-François did and it is clearly noticeable in this wine. The tell-tale Coche matchstick and new oak are much less in evidence, and the overall profile is more about the purity of the varietal expression than about the wine maker's style. The (perfectly integrated) oak is still noticeable however, there is seamless intensity and a lovely salinity. Length is very good. Faultless wine making, but not as distinctive - or special.

We had to try this once we spotted it on the list of Kyubi @ The Arts Club, London. Its a good wine but a simple one irrespective of the great wine maker. Green Apple, citrus, nutty feel too. Clean and fresh but on the simple side and with little finish. Nice stone fruit feel at time on the palate. 87

Pleasant aligoté from JfCD Light yellow color, nearly translucent. Very subtle citrus, flowery (cotton?) nose Palate wise, light apple, with a minty after kick

Nose of yellow straw, green apple, I can't find the typical grilled hazelnut & citrus-mineral from Coche in this wine... Diluated yellow apple, a little acidity but not backed-up by fruit... Very dissapointing to say the least!

Very citrus nose, mineral, hint of grilled hazelnut, green apple... quite powerful at opening, green apple, citrus... The wine went down after one hour aeration to a diluted citrus juice, I don't know what went wrong with the wine, but it was very dissapointed for a Coche... not the first 2013 coche that dissapoints...

Very fresh, compact and linear. There are some green apple and honeysuckle notes. It is dense and chalky and the finish is super-bright and vigorous.

Disappointing compared to other vintages of this wine. A bit flat and lacking that Coche special sauce.
