This was my favorite red of the night. The earth, wood and smoke layering into the fruit was other-worldly. I've had a challenge reproducing this experience from later-vintage Dujac.

Pure, beautiful expression of Echézeaux with sensuality and some animality to go with red and dark fruits beneath, sweetness from fruit. Cellared since original release.

Medium color. Huge spices. Great depth and amazing texture. Lots of red and black fruits. Good earth and soil notes. This got better as it opened up. A class 93 and a great Ech.

Party at My Place: Beautifully expressive and nicely mature nose of leathery red cherry and soily earth character. The fruit is bright but developed and there is a lot of energy and characteristically ‘93 aromatic playfulness here. Distinctively whole-clustered, spices, and stemmy, which is hard not to love. Good example of the Dujac style, good example of Echezeaux terroir. This was a fresher bottle than the example last May.

Expressive and nuanced bouquet that is highly stalky and stemmy, highly floral, cool red cherry, and a beautiful terroir influence of smoky soil and spent coffee grounds. On the palate this has bright red and blue fruit up front, mature, darker, and a touch tart in the middle. Hint of spicy tomato. Subtle but consistent finish. Perhaps lighter than one would expect out of 1993, Dujac, or Echezeaux if one complaint.

Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Red cherry aromas with good spice. Stems in great balance. Similar flavors also bring out some black cherry. Elegant with very good concentration, good length. Not quite as great as another bottle opened last year from the same case.

Drinking younger than '93 Charmes today, most of the table picked this as their top wine today. For my taste there was a bit too much oak and I preferred the Charmes.

Vosne spice, cherry, stems, and black fruit. Palate was finely integrated with softened tannins and black fruit. The fruit on the palate was not as expressive as the 96. I think this is a different style. I gave the 96 0.5 point higher than this. But 93 was enjoyable immediately once it was opened.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys Auction (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Spice and mature red cherry aromas, followed by more spice along with red and black cherry flavors. Very long with incredibly elegant tannins for the '93 vintage. Perhaps the first time I have had this wine.

My second time enjoying this wine. Again this wine showed a huge amount of Christmas spices on the nose (perfect timing seasonally). This had a very juicy mouth feel and had a finish like a fresh slice of watermelon. There was flavors of a raspberry and blackberry salad, but no jam or leather quite yet. Tasted middle aged (not youthful and not mature). A beautiful bottle again!

Dinner at Gilt (NYC): A bouquet of cinnamon and Christmas spices on the nose. A really powerful flavor that almost bursts in your mouth; each sip creates immense amounts of saliva. Hints of black cherry and fruit punch on the palate. A very well balanced wine already, but will benefit from a few more years of resting to help soften the tannins. A fine wine indeed. 97.5

Tasting of four Red Burgundy blind. Third place. Lovely pleasant, very perfumey nose, open, fruity, tasty on the palate with a touch of mint, long, long finish with a touch of acid.

Clos De La Roche Dinner (The Ledbury, London): Clos de la Roche Dinner - earthy smokey nose wrapped around some red fruits. this was a mouthful of wine and seemed a step up at its core the CdR's we had been drinking for most of the night. it was rich ripe bright fruits, medium acidity and long in the mouth. still improving and all in all a excellent bottle of wine

Operates in a narrower range than the '93 CDR. Highlights purple fruit. Good bottle.

The most supple of the '93 Dujac GC's, this was a good bottle. Velvety.
