Performing like a northern Rhône Cote Rotie, this wine is firing on all cylinders. Olive tapenade, blue fruit and garrigue deliver an outstanding wine from Mr. Peterson. Great juice.

From last weekend, this was great. The stems are noticeable in comparison to the other Weill Expositions and Bedrock Syrahs in general, leaving a more savory olive expression in addition to the meaty, peaty Syrah fruit. Glad I held this, the 2013 Expo I needs to rest another year or three.

Well done Syrah. As usual I like to wait 8+ years before drinking these syrah wines. They tend to mellow out and become much more interesting. Look forward to trying the others in the series.

First bottle opened in the series - wonderful. Lots of bacon fat, smoke, hints of leather and licorice hidden in the background. Glad we gave it tons of air as the first glass was very different from the remaining pours. The dark fruits and acidity showed themselves after the first hour. Can’t wait to try the other bottlings.

P&P. Maybe should have decanted, but this was full throttle right off the pop. Meaty, savory, iodine, black fruit, oak, coffee, maybe a hint of root beer...really amazing wine that just kept giving all night. I feel like I just scratched the surface of this wine's complexity at hour 3 when it ran out. REALLY looking forward to the other 2 Expositions in this vintage, as well as the 2013s. Drink now (preferably with a couple hour decant) - 2032.

This felt like the brightest of the three 2012 expositions. This was a meaty, savory rendition of syrah with a good blend of red fruits and black fruits. Lively acidity, soft leather tannins and a little bit of menthol help balance the flavorful palate.
Tasted great with the strip side of the porterhouse. This was also drinking great, but needed a little bit of a decant.

Two years since my last bottle. I still have not learned my lesson about decanting, but it no longer matters. This was luscious from the first sip. Rich but nuanced. Deep but clear as a sunny day. Deep plum fruit with baking spices and herbs, it honestly felt more like a Zinfandel until the finish, when the red meat and smoke signaled Syrah. Drink anytime you want to.

Bought direct in 2020. Again the has performed the best of the three but still past prime. Tons of oak (100% new) and artificial sweetener upfront now. Smoke, black fruit and forest notes are here but have faded into the back with age. Drink now as these continue to decline.

Nose of raspberry, kirsch, cotton candy, and sweet roses. Rich palate with a fluffy texture including of black fruit =, dense and peppery cherry fruit, dark chocolate, and notes of fig. Smooth, resolved tannins with lithe leather, minerals, spice, and mocha, Huge wine and a treasure to drink.

Opened in bottle all day (six hours plus). This on has performed the best of all Expositions at year eight retaining not only freshness but also the most structure. Smokey black fruit, bacon, cassis liqueur, vanilla, and foresty notes. At peak now with a few years to go. In my opinion these weee better young.

Ripe cherry, raspberry, strawberry, roasted steak, white pepper, mint, cinnamon, vanilla, massive intensity but perfect balance. Again this is a beautiful new world Syrah and I wish they kept making this series as they were always fun to drink.

Night two was wildly better than night one, so I have clearly not learned my lesson about decanting. Rich fruit, aromatic spice, perfect balance, and a finish as long as the last two minutes of an NBA playoff game. Yowza!

Huge nose of eucalyptus, savory red and black fruits. Plush rich mouthfeel and flavors of black fruits and minerals. Long, silky finish. Deft handling of great fruit.

First off, if you are going to drink this, decant it. The wine needs a couple of hours of air to unwind. Once it does open up there is a wealth of black cherry & blackberry fruit, dark chocolate, tar, roasted meat, and floral tones. It's rich but very well balanced by its acids, so the wine is actually quite food friendly (we had burgers). What makes it impressive is the fact that it has great depth, but never feels heavy. It's ripe, but never alcoholic. There is quite the balancing act going on, a tribute to the winemaker and the site.

Opened bottle 4 hours ahead of dinner, but no decant. Intense, focused, concentrated, but no heaviness or heavy-handedness. Sour cherry, candies violets, a whiff of tar, savory crackling porchetta skin, dusted with fennel and other herbs. Some darker fruits (blackberry, black plum) lurk underneath along with a tang of iron and assertive but not overwhelming tannins. Holy crap this finish goes on and on.

Agree with the notes below. Mixed blue and red fruit, tending to more red fruit. Some bramble. Lots of iron. Nice acidity and grippy on the long long finish. Very enjoyable and a silly QPR. Eager to the balance of the 12s and 13 expositions.

Blue and black fruit combine with iron ore in this well made Syrah. Good acidity and minerality add a nice edge. Wonderful texture and depth. This wine has the X factor! I decanted it for three hours. I am looking forward to seeing how this evolves over the next few years.

Extracted nose, medium red fruits, stewed meats, strawberry liquor, mouthfeel is extremely lush, velvety smooth, background vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, great intensity with terrific balance. This wine keeps getting better and better! Wish I had more, hint hint Morgan...

rich black berry fruit, with some bramble and herbal notes most prominent on nose. this has a moment of weakness on the midpalate, before coming back into a med(+) finish that shows fruit, pepper, herbal, and savory notes.

Opened the full series together with a group. Enjoyable experience to compare these side-by-side. My preference order was #1, #2 (close), then #3 (not close).
#1 is interesting texturally - some reasonably significant tannin from the whole cluster (much more pleasant than wood tannin), full fruit with a bit of savory, meaty character... clearly a fruit-driven wine stylistically, though this is the most savory and interesting of the three. In my view, this will be better in 5+ years as the tannin integrates and the fruit is coaxed out a bit. A complete, and quite good, wine.

Color: deep, inky ruby core -> dense ruby rim. Bouquet less intense than expected: floral elements along with bacon, a little tobacco, iodine, roasted meat and cassis. Palate also softer than expected (guess I was expecting something more along Cote-Rotie lines); minerals, blackberries and a bit of forest floor. Soft, fine tannins evident along with good acidity. Reasonably long finish though the 14.8% Etoh does show a bit. Nice wine and I think it will improve/grow a bit as it ages though it is obviously pretty tasty now.

Identical experience to the first bottle, really nice Syrah, extended aging does this wine justice, dark fruits, toasted oak, pretty big in style for Bedrock, but that's all good in my book. I still like Number 2 the best of the 3 but this is nothing to sneeze at.

The biggest and most approachable of all the Expositions. Opened all day and decanted almost 9 hours. The absence of Viognier really pushes the concentration and intensity past the other expositions. Juicy blackberry, cassis liqueur, vanilla, oak, smoked bacon, and grilled ribeye. Nose is ridiculously good from beginning to end.

For my style, not as good as the Two, but really pure expression of Syrah. Dark fruits, meat, integrated oak that really fills out the palate. Got better with air as it really needs a year or two IMO. Very good syrah and will probably get better with time.
