Ganevat Dinner (San Francisco): Very pretty nose with notes of red fruit, black pepper, earth, a hint of leather, and maybe a bit of brett. Good acidity with more red berries and cherries on the palate and a bit more primary than the palate overall. Nice finish. This was really lovely and complex, a nice contrast from the more pure fruit flavors of the other reds. I enjoyed this slight rusticity and would ideally give this another 5 years or so in the cellar. 93-94+

Jura study (Chicago, IL): A very small reductive note on the nose. Red fruit, pure, simple and clean. Far less herbal than the 2011, this primarily shows that light Jura red fruit. I might have been in the minority in preferring this to the older version. Very lightweight, but with a nice silkiness to the texture.

Sushi and Champagne (Sushi Yuki): Blinded. Open an hour earlier. Med ruby with pronounced aromas. Funky initially but blew off, notes of strawberry, raspberry. High acid with light body ending with a long finish.

Caroline's birthday at Sushi Yuki: My contribution as I wanted to do a Puffeney red and white side by side. Was worried about this as it was thin and acidic on opening but with air it developed the magical lifted nose as I experienced with the Poulsard. On the palate this wasn’t quite as deep as the Poulsard but it showed some vibrant raspberry fruit. Lovely balanced wine from a cooler vintage albeit a little short on the finish.

So yummy! Cloudy, light red. Peppery nose, some subdued funk, and a hint of orange peel. After a bit of air, it opens up nicely. Light on the palate, it has a zippy acidity in the mouth, balancing suave fruit with a hint of funk. Reminds of some lighter Italian reds from Sardinia or Sicily. Almost a perfect balance between fresh and savoury. Goes so well with food, but also holds up its own. I've been waiting to try this for a while, and so happy for my remaining clutch. Will be delicious to drink over the next 5-8 years. Excellent!

If only more natural wine (well, wine that people will sell as natural wine, at least) wine was like this! The reduction here is fairly gentle, and the bright fruit really shines through. Terrific wine, and easily my favorite producer of the genre.

This is a knockout wine. Pale red color, floral nose, red berries. Fills the mouth with flavors of cranberry, pomegranate, orange and stones. Incredibly expressive in spite of the lean body. Puffeney’s last commercial vintage, unfortunately, but a great testimony to his winemaking.

Cloudy light red. In the nose, this is great, rose petals, some black pepper, strawberry and raspberry, quite a lot of earth, spices. In the mouth, it's light, but has a lot of depth, fresh acidity, good length. It shows the structure in the finish.

cloudy light ruby. Nose some funk at first, better with a decant; red cherries. Palate funky with animale wildness; red fruit with some fleshy/sappy character, prominent chalky tannins. Complex, challenging and still young, my favorite Jura red of the night. 93 pts

By the glass. It tastes like kirsh of cherries, with nose reminiscent of menthol and sharp spices. A combination at least very curious. A high acidity and an easy drink feeling complement this wine. More than just acceptable.
Por copas. Sabe a kirsh de cerezas, con recuerdos en nariz a mentol y a especias punzantes. Una combinación cuando menos curiosa. Una alta acidez y un trago fácil complementan a este vino. Más que aceptable.
Light garnet, moderately intense nose with hint of chestnut, touch of cured ham with balsamic notes along fruits of the forest, medium bodied light soft tannins and a long finish.Ready but will age beautifully for next 10plus years

P&p; fairly reticent for quite a while, best with four+ hours of air in the bottle, gaining depth and pungency; seems like it would benefit from time in the cellar. In any case, certainly enjoyable. Cool, spicy, dark-reddish, cranberry-like fruit; tobacco/leaves/twigs; stony earth; good acidity. Nice lingering stony minerality. Good general depth and promise for the future. Good stuff.

Medium garnet. Bright, zingy, fresh, balanced. Lovely cranberry acidity. A touch of earth and a bare hint of funk in the background. Very nice over three nights, and then after an intervening 48 hours, it continued to be lovely in small pours to the end.

Decanted. Really hit its stride about 1 h after. A: Raspberry/pomegranate/cranberry spectrum, earth and herbs. P: Follows aromas with pretty good tannins on back end. Earth is more prominent. But it's the flavor concentration in a lithe, elegant, almost lightweight texture but then the tannins hit you at the end. So fascinating and good. Sad when the bottle emptied. Hold on for a couple of years to see what it's like when the tannins resolve.

Classic Trousseau from Puffeney. Not my favorite vintage though. Quite forward, rustic and I thought a touch of heat (only 13% on the label).
