Beautifully open, ripe and pure. This is showing a beautiful golden color, smaller and fewer bubbles. Notes of honey, browned apple, some blood orange, sweet spices, quite some autolytic notes like brioche and browned butter, some vanilla. It‘s medium-full bodied, with medium-high acidity and some lighter bubbles. Full-bodied an structured, but with exellent freshness and just overall very nice aromatics and structure. I love it and this must be one of the best wines I have ever had from Marie-Noelle Ledru.

Light gold color. Complex node with notes of grilled almonds, chalk, grapefruit, and yeast. Fresh and crisp on the plate with the grapefruit character dominating, backed by a strong mineral finish. Needs a bit of air to come around.

Last bottle of 4. The previous 3 were very enjoyable, this bottle was showing first signs of oxidation. Already in an oxidative style, the oxidation on top did not suit it well.
Wow this was very good and better than the previous bottle. Less oxidative. Reminded a bit of the jacquesson style but darker and richer Ambonnay. Might still improve but a fine wine today.

Burgundy, Day 2 (Beaune, France): At La Maison du Colombier. It's been a while since I had this wine, and truthfully I think my palate has changed a bit in that time as well. This is still a relatively rich and broad example of Ledru thanks to the concentration and extract here. There's a good amount of white fruit and a decent sappiness, but the lack of dosage gives this an acidic edge that I find a little tough to enjoy.

Casual Dinner with Friends (Ada St.): Showing some age and oxidative and earthy notes. Complex and nuanced in the leaner style. But just feels somewhat emaciated leaving me wanting more fruit and richness.

Enjoyable nose of brioche and graham cracker. Fruit is not overpowering. Bit shallow in the mid-palate, but decent finish. Upon first opening the finish had rather tart but not off-putting finish which over time mellowed out some.

Nose is spicy, brown (brass) with lots of energy. Ginger. Lemon. Minerals. White and black pepper. Palate has huge lemon. Amazing lift and energy. Ginger some apple and bruised apple ox. Great cut and really grips the palate. Lemon and spice and saline finish. Bright and long and so driven and laser like. Some of my review is potential but really enjoyable now and this probably needs 10-15 and will last a long time. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 18/20.

Light canary gold with a vigorous stream of fine bubbles. Peaches & cream, yellow raspberry, Rainer cherry, merruinge aromas. Slap you in the face zestiness, I wish it developed into something deeper to make it another 1-2 points higher. Lots of citrus, chamomile tea, ginger biscuit.

As screechy and austere as these are on release but the fruit is deep and brassy in tone, too much so. 1 or 2 people called it oxidized, but not in the sense that it has actual oxidized flavors, it just feels stale.
Dinner at The Bristol (The Bristol - Chicago, IL): I found this relatively compact and shut down right now. Orchard fruit and biscuit nose, that is pleasant enough but the palate is more lean and angular than generous. Lots of upside. Hold.

After a few minutes in the glass, super aromatic notes of lemon, raspberries, and medium-ripe strawberries, there is also a note of baking spices, beautiful minerality (chalky notes) and some smoke. Also a touch of nuttiness. It's medium-full bodied, dense and powerful but with impeccable texture and freshness, high acidity and bone dry but super long finish. A fantastic, pure and fascinating Brut Nature! I would give this a little more time in bottle though. (94+)

Blowout at Formento's (Chicago, IL): Well, I've been complaining about (the lack of) dosage in many of my champagne notes, and in a night of exceptions, here's another. Holy shit. What an incredible bottle of Champagne. There's white and red fruit on the nose here in spades, along with super-dense and powerful acidity and momentum. White hot, electric, and totally exciting. The acidity burns, but it burns so good...

Lovely. Good intensity and nice smooth mouthfeel. Started off a bit oxidative but 20 min in this evolved into a beautiful spicyness.

Disappointing. 85% Pinot Noir. Drinks like a blanc de noir. Heavy with thick bubbles.
