Burgaud, I always say the Beaujolais for syrah lovers. Nothing bashful about these wines, always with darker, meaty fruit, but always also demonstrably Beaujolais. This bottle has seen enough years that it’s starting to lighten and soften just a bit, showing its dark, gamay fruit, with a boysenberry leaning, excellent acidity, and still substantial fine tannins. Delicious, still very youthful, with many years ahead of it still.

Tasted blind. Licorice, dark berries, and some gamey flavors on the nose. Rustic, with medium+ tannins and some wild strawberry flavors on the palate. Medium finish. This was very dark overall and while it's a good wine, it's not what I usually want in a Beaujolais.

Dark garnet color, this has so much deep, flavorful dark fruit, great intensity and acidity, some light lip-smacking tannins. Age worthy but incredibly tasty now, a marvelous Beaujolais.

No formal note, this needs more air time than I could give it, came out pretty tight and tannic, more a knock on the way the bottle was consumed than anything else.

Brilliant, just brilliant! QPR doesn’t get much better than this delicious sip (gulp) from Jean-Marc Burgaud, full of forest fruits and pine with superb drinkability. Jean-Marc Burgaud vinifies this gem (and all of his gems) using natural methods and vines 50+ years old - incredible stuff. This Cote du Py offering showed incredible balance between bright fruit and delicious spices, with a complexity well beyond the price point. A wealth of fruit was immediately present: strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and spiced plum, with blueberry, currants, and blackberry developing on the palate. Black pepper, gravel, and leaves/moss moved into to balance out the fruit; the wine also carried a sense of anise throughout. With time, it showed some candied fruit characteristics along with plenty of sweet spice, eventually giving a finish full of cinnamon bread and baked berries. On day 2, the intensity of flavours was simply wild - this bottle just got better and better. It drank much lighter than the 13.0% would indicate, but also carried suitable structure to suggest that you could give it a bit of cellar time to develop even more depth. Whether you want to crack it now or wait, this is an absolute win!

Lovely nose that's almost more Cote d'Or-like, some dark candied cherry, so much VA that many would call this faulty - it's actually like an high-VA Musar and quite nice for it.

PNP. Cork perfect. Color garnet. Nose has cherry cranberry and earth notes. Swishing shows acid but more tannin structure that goes a bit dry on the shortish finish. Sipping shows more density of fruit but this is still short on finish c/w varietal although blind I might have guessed this to be a young burg from a lesser appellation and not a Beaujolais, which I guess is a complement

Meh. Maybe an off bottle, but it tasted tired and not very exciting.

Red fruit (cherry), bright, nice spice, minerality, good acidity. Nice spice.
Really enjoyable.

Great depth of fruit... but it took a few hours to open up. Even better on day two. Maybe it needs a bit more time to be at its peak

WineLA event: Pinot Taste Off (Downtown Los Angeles): Scored blind. A weak nose. Very acidic, harsh, and missing fruit. I can't find anything in this one. Not an off bottle.
