Burgaud, I always say the Beaujolais for syrah lovers. Nothing bashful about these wines, always with darker, meaty fruit, but always also demonstrably Beaujolais. This bottle has seen enough years that it’s starting to lighten and soften just a bit, showing its dark, gamay fruit, with a boysenberry leaning, excellent acidity, and still substantial fine tannins. Delicious, still very youthful, with many years ahead of it still.

Tasted blind. Licorice, dark berries, and some gamey flavors on the nose. Rustic, with medium+ tannins and some wild strawberry flavors on the palate. Medium finish. This was very dark overall and while it's a good wine, it's not what I usually want in a Beaujolais.

Dark garnet color, this has so much deep, flavorful dark fruit, great intensity and acidity, some light lip-smacking tannins. Age worthy but incredibly tasty now, a marvelous Beaujolais.

No formal note, this needs more air time than I could give it, came out pretty tight and tannic, more a knock on the way the bottle was consumed than anything else.

Meh. Maybe an off bottle, but it tasted tired and not very exciting.
