Wonderful wine, with great nose, great fruit, very well balanced and maybe also with some tannins left. The wine kept improving during our 3 hour dinner so maybe we should have decanted. Great without food, but even better with food - did very well with an entrecote. Perfectly cellared since release. Low fill (low shoulders) so we feared that the wine should not be drinkable, but we were wrong. The cork was completeley soaked.

First time a had a wine of my own vintage... Brick coloured, but very bright. A great nose with leather, a bit of rose hip and allspice. A touch of earthiness that left after some time. Decanting done directly before serving. The wine developed in the glass for almost two hours. The taste was complex with tertiary aromas, medium+ acidity, very smoth, almost fully resolved tannins, leather, a bit of oak and some mature sweet plum notes and a really long finish. I'm not very used to 60 years old wine but the overall impression was a solid mature wine in a good condition.

Brick red in colour, not youthful looking! What a nose, shockingly beautiful! Smooth and silky on the palate, it was a touch earthy at the beginning, then enormous amount of slightly sweet fruits start to take over, quite a magical process, offering a lengthy satisfying finish, I found it quite a bit of surprise, such vibrancy and youthfulness

Smoke, walnuts and toasted oak on the nose. In the mouth, ripe fruit, raisins, very fresh despite its age, a complex nose giving way to an easy palate. This is like searching, wandering through a maze, a labyrinth, smoke and mirrors. It feels like you are lost, and then "poof" the ruby appears right before your eyes.

LMHB (The Ledbury): Nicely tobacco-scented with a freshness. Elegant and harmonious. Proper Graves. No more than medium bodied, but enticing and delicate. Bright and vibrant and fresh and elegant. Pulls up a little dry on the finish and maybe lacks some persistence. Elegant though, and harmonious. ****

A Trip to Bern's for Old Bordeaux and Burgundy (Tampa, FL): From magnum. Strong cheddar at first. Oh yeah, this is textbook Graves with roasted notes interplaying well against a gorgeous core of sweet La Mission fruit. Mmm, just delicious!

LMHB Vertical (Jean Georges): While corked, at first only the nose was ruined and the palate still showed some great fruit. Really impossible to analyze, but clearly this wine is very much alive (well, not this bottle).

The Third Annual Blind Challenge (Establishment Restaurant, Manchester): A mature colour. Very cedary, very old nose, that's hugely attractive. This is proper stuff! Old and fully mature on the palate, but still very much alive. Very clean, very gentle old fruit. Very soft tannins, but they're still there. This is delicious and a clear WOTN.

Tasted on July 16, 2004. Exceptional, very well preserved , a real treat ! Smoke aromas on the first nose, it is a powerful cherry nose with jammy red fruits, very ripe. In mouth it is a very greedy and expressive wine with a beautiful harmony and balance, a perfectly done wine, with extraordinary length and balance. Perfectly well done, in great shape with still a lot of alcohol which lets foresee a potential for a few more years (5 to 10 years). A FANTASTIC wine!!!

This starts off pencilly with touches of creosote and cigar; blackberry emerges with air. Fully resolved; pretty is missing some substance.

From an owc. Funk, cedarwood, green pepper and currant fruit. Palate was fully resolved with lovely sweetness.

Although showing its age, this 1.5 had plenty of character, although little fruit left. Still gorgeous after all these years, like my beautiful wife

La Mission Haut Brion; 3/9/2012-3/10/2012 (Burg Staufeneck): From magnum. Something was not quite right, not sure whether it was cork, but it got worse over time. Initially light but pleasant and round.
