was in the mood for a big CA pinot and as usual, this lived up the billing. layers of sweet cranberry fruit with good acidity. terrific perfume. this is def not burgundian or lithe in style IMHO, but i enjoy it for what it is - very hedonistic, tons of polished fruit. def medium bodied and a great wine as long as you know thats the style of it.

Absolutely great bottle of wine. Only negative is it cannot possibly be a Pinot Noir with an ABV of 15.2% Otherwise, dark cherry and other fruits, mushrooms, just outstanding, but maybe truer to a Rhone than a PN.

Mothers Day weekend in OCNJ, great to celebrate with Eric and Sarah. Had not tried this vintage of the UV-SL designate. Stood the bottle a day in advance, gave it a 2+ hour decant - both advised by the vintner...I was a little short on the decant time. Served with grilled steak, swordfish teryaki and roasted potatoes.
Medium/dark ruby color, no separation. Nose of dark cherry, spice. Rich palate showing blackberry, cherry, rhubarb (?), earth and baking spice. There was an extra tartness on the mid palate from the blackberry notes. Nice persistence, high toned fruits. Full body, medium/long finish.
A lot going on here, these was an outstanding showing for this wine. In my experience, it pays to get a little ago on the Aubert Pinots, this is a good example. Drinking really well right now, showing no signs of fading. Decant is a must....

I followed the instructions, for a change: stood upright in the cellar for 48 hours, decanted for four hours, sat it on the screen porch at 50 degrees for the afternoon. A really beautiful Point Noir. A slight—very slight—bitter note at times: just enough to make you pay attention to what you're drinking. Impressive purity and intensity here.
Paired (very well) with hearty soup and serious salad.

very CA new world; snappy cranberry; def on the lush fruit forward, fuller bodied spectrum, but very enjoyable. def not going to get better but far from being over the peak but i'd recommend drinking it now given the fruit profile being so key to enjoying this.

PnP. While the nose was a little reticent the palate was overflowing with red fruited goodness. Palate had a good mix of fruit, earthy notes and minerality. Energetic. Long finish, we’ll balanced, a very good West Sonoma Pinot. Probably would benefit from a decant.

Outstanding! Finished the bottle that we had opened a few days ago and it was still as amazing as the first night. Red and dark red fruit on the mouth and on the nose with some spice. It's very dense, but not heavy. Everything is so well balanced.

This requires a 2 hour decant. Full bodied and well integrated high pitched cherry notes. A fair amount of spice which adds to the complexity. A nice long finish round this out. This is either in its prime or very close to it. This should drink well for another 3-5 years.

This took awhile to get going but then delivered sweet wild strawberry, black raspberry, cola and a hint of citrus on the nose. Medium-bodied with good energy, most of the flavour fireworks were focused on the mid-palate. Better on day 2. Certainly enjoyable but can find a comparable pinot experience elsewhere for far less money.

Popped and poured into a decanter. She imbibes, he hasn't for thirty years, but knew his wines well back when. Near to his wife's glass, he said "Wow! I can tell by the nose that that is a great wine."
It was. Medium body, not in the least cloying but dense with fruit. And, yes, a great nose, full of pleasure even if one is not generally an avid sniffer; it just wafts.

Dark cherries, graphite, red berries, and lush fruit on the nose. Massive wine on the palate, but with decent balance between acidity, structure, and ripeness. Sweet dark berries, black berry jam, and tart dark berry flavors on the palate. Quite long finish. Obviously well made wine with some complexity and depth and I do get some enjoyment from it, but too big and ripe and not at all representative of any Pinot I would like to drink.

Burgundy color with a bouquet and flavor of dark cherries and raspberries with Pinot Noir spiciness. Good definition and balance with a fairly long finish. Not quite as good as some of its kin, but still very nice Second bottle was similar.

Plum, red raspberry, big black cherry, vanilla-strawberry, spice, and a fistful of alcohol. Following this over two days could not fully shake it of its cocktail profile. Air did help, and day two was much more resolved and in-balance.
A Maxem UV started out similarly on day one but was able to find more seamlessness in the end, whereas the Aubert stayed beefier, more powerful, and aggressive. A bit of a brute. Hold for a couple more years in hopes it can integrate all of its party animal parts.
Still very youthful, very “California Pinot” which is a bit odd to me as Aubert usually seems to lean more towards Burgundy. Licorice on the nose and ripe plum on the palate. Very good now, will be interesting to revisit in 3-5 years.

Red raspberry, ripe red cherry, evergreen, old cinnamon bark, and subtle citrus. Front-loaded with red fruit on the initial attack; full, round, and fairly plush overall at first. The mid-palate was nicely weighted, with some decent energy to push it through to the mouthwatering finish. A bit of alcohol hovered over the palate from nose to tail.
After about two hours of air (in bottle and in the glass - not decanted), it found more focus and a bit more frame/acid. The sensation of grip was enhanced by a more pronounced display of earth flavors circumnavigating the red fruit core.
Good to drink now, but holding off another 1+ year is advisable. 94+ points, with upside around 2020+.

Drank in honor of the passing of its namesake, Ulises Valdez. This wine is still years away from its peak, but it's still phenomenal today with just a 45min decant. Popped and poured this bottle. Nice medium red color with wide legs. The nose consists of strawberries, raspberries, mint, dried figs and pencil lead. Great balance of acidity and tannins with a wonderful mouthfeel. The balanced tannins let the flavors of strawberries, red raspberries, blueberries and mint shine through. Nice long pleasant finish accentuates the pleasurable red fruit.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Alpharetta, GA): Dark maroon core with lighter rim; sweet raspberry, raspberry pie, creamy, oak spice, smoky, blueberry; grapey on the palate, higher alcohol, cough syrup, sweet, a bit heavy, modern, soft tannin, cinnamon, clove; Kosta Brown?- makes sense.

This is a very well constructed Pinot with a wonderful nose consisting of cherries, blueberries, rose petals and blackberry jam. It's got sleek and seductive layers of ripe cherries, red licorice, mint and lavender. This wine is extremely enjoyable now but 2-3 years should reward fortunate owners.

It's really almost 94- at this point. It just needs the oak and the acid to settle down. But from the nose to the finish this is a rockstar Pinot Noir. One of the best Aubert PNs ever. There is a density to the fruit and ripe tannins that is rarely achieved by any wine, and I think with another 3 years this is going to be unbelievable. It evolved nicely over two hours, but I probably could have decanted this all day and it still wouldn't have tamed it. I think I will be keeping the rest of my bottles. Try to hold off until 2020 if you can. This is amazing juice.

Sleek, sensual, sophisticated and alluring. A finely made, layered, structured Pinot with expressive aromas of lavender, plum and cherry licorice. Young but seductive on the palate with flavors of red cherry, rose petals, lavender, and licorice. Finely balanced with clear structure, the finish is long and features great balance between tannins and acids, both of which are somewhat repressed with the youth of the fruit. Wait a couple of more years if you can, but this terrifically crafted Pinot is world class.

Dried cherries predominate followed by a lingering finish. If offered a wine from Aubert, don't pass it up!!!!

Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Alpharetta, GA): Dark maroon core with lighter rim; sweet raspberry, raspberry pie, creamy, oak spice, smoky, blueberry; grapey on the palate, higher alcohol, cough syrup, sweet, a bit heavy, modern, soft tannin, cinnamon, clove; Kosta Brown?- makes sense.

clearly a well made wine but needs time
I have to say I was unimpressed when I opened it but after five hours in a ships decanter it stared to show its stuff
deep rich wine, tasted Cherries, licorice, mint, and many indescribable yet wonderful flavors
will try again in 3-4 years
