Drank last nite at a white Ornellaia tasting with the winemaker. Tasted 2013, 14, 15 and 16. The first 2 have viognier, the younger two do now. The 2013 is a delicious wine. Great fruit--melon, peach, white fruit. Medium acidity, some weight and quite aromatic. The viognier lends a hint of sweetness which I enjoyed. Great and very interesting wine

Vertical Tasting with Axel Heinz (The Dimenna Center for Classical Music): The nose was rich and exotic, showing spiced peaches, yellow floral perfumes, and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, I found soft textures, which coated the textures in an almost-oily film, as notes of savory peach, spice, minerals and lime oil blanketed the senses, offset by juicy acidity. The finish was long, with its textural clout slowly fading over time, as hints of young mango and inner florals lingered.

A Capella (Mirko’s Store): Initially started out as a chardonnay lookalike and later on developed the typical Sauvignon Blanc notes. Very dense, rich and opulent

Day 2 in Piedmont (Giacosa, Conterno, & Cavallotto) (Piedmont, Italy): First time I had ever seen this wine before. A great way to kick off a great dinner. Aromas of pears, nectarines, & melons...very tropical with some more steely hints buried in there. Its palate was tropical, but also had some nice acidic notes that balanced out its round core. Pretty delicious wine.

Fine White Wine Tasting (Oinoscent): Tight, austere, flint, light citrus and stone fruit notes, some flowery notes too, with time the oak emerges more. In the palate, the wine is quite fruity, med acidity, nice body and structure, stone fruit, mild oak in the back, not very impressive for the price tag but quite nice and elegant, ending with a med finish. Outstanding quality

First vintage of this, mostly Sauvignon blanc with Viognier (approx 20% we think) Starts off light a lightly oaked Puligny-Montrachet 1er, mineral, firm medium acidity. At least this is what we thought trying it blind. It only developed that grassy Sauvignon Blanc side later on , maybe 40 minutes post opening . An interesting wine for sure. 92
