Similar to prior note after a 1 hour SO, except that it was less opulent & appears to be losing its youth, still a lovely way to start a dinner with good friends; delicious, drink or hold

Grandioses Weissweinkino. Auf dem Peak, mit Reserven bis 2030, 97 vvPunkte www.vvwine.ch

SLDS Decadence 2021: White florals, passionfruit, pear and orange peel on the nose. Palate finds a delicate tone even though there is underlying power to it. Good control and balance, this bottle showing significantly better than one 12 months ago.

Some serious whites: I haven't cared for the Chapoutier's reds that I have tried but this was superb. Most of us pegged this as a Rhone easily, with its low acidity and lovely unctuous texture. Rich mouth feel that enveloped the mouth, very good intensity of fruit despite the low acid that drove it towards an astounding finish. Still a baby at the moment, but given the ageing trajectory of Rhone whites I think it might not be a bad idea to drink this now before the wine loses its vivacity.

Ken's High Flying Hermitage (Ken's Castle): Honeysuckle, light lemon and faint vanilla on the nose. Creamy lanolin/lemon on the palate with a very long finish. This wine continued to get stronger and stronger as the night went on. There is a lot of stuffing in this wine, waiting to be unleashed. Nothing is needed but time in the bottle to uncoil. This might be going through a dumb phase but needs some age for sure. Finished 3 out of 5 within a very strong lineup.

SLDS November 2020: Pear, white florals and ginger on the nose. Dense on the palate, plenty of fruit power but there is an alcohol twist on the finish that distracts from the otherwise good length.

An exceptional Northern Rhone white... rich gold, satiny texture. The nose just leaps from the glass with aromas of ripe golden gooseberries, pear, bitter orange marmalade, hints of caramel. Powerful and rich in the mouth yet with substantial acidity, and a remarkable long mineral finish. Drink now or hold for as long as you like...

Unctuous, chewy mouthfeel, combined with the purest expression of Rhône white blend (Marsanne, Roussane, Viognier). From the unique and compelling bouquet, to the long finish an absolutely magnificent wine.

Tight, tight, much too young. Intense wine, spicy, loaded with minerals, great structure, more than a cut above the 2016. 96+ point

Excellent intense aromas & flavors of a high-level Marsanne, rich, complex, layered - a great pleasure.
