Simply stunning dessert wine that tastes similar to a great German ice wine. Darkish color with incredibly delicious strawberry/raspberry flavors and a strong bead of acidity. The finish is just so deeply complex with the perfect amount of intensity and fabulous notes of minerals and spices. Wowza!

Deep amber colour. Marmalade and stewed apricot and apple on the nose. Intense in sweetness and massive gorgeous acidity on the palate - marmalade, stewed fruit, glacé fruit, caramel and toffee - endless length. Burnt toffee at the end. Shame it was the only bottle we have!

From halves. Medium amber in colour, the 2015 Straw Wine has an attractive bouquet of peach, mango, lemon tea, and sweet flower. The palate is concentrated but not overly heavy, with sweet mango and ripe stone fruit balanced by good acidity and minerals. Ready to drink, but interested to see how this may develop in the long term though this was less good on the second and third day with the wine losing a bit of focus. Sadly this was my last bottle. 10% alc. and 100% chenin blanc.

Beautiful darkish color. Great intensity for a sweet wine with lots of succulent acidity to balance out the rich sweet flavors of apricots and raspberries. The finish is taut and complex with notes of minerals and stone fruit pit. Maturing rather quickly so drink up soon.

not blind dark nearly brown colour, 10% alc. Concentrated but still fruity notes are in the upfront. Less honey, vanilla and dried fruit notes. Good acidity. 91

Really liked this! Explosive nose of apricot, peaches, caramelised orange rind and some mango, lots of similar fruit on the palate but it has enough acidity to prevent any cloying texture really impressive length- paired great with a cheese platter

This is pedro ximenes sweet and truly syrupy in texture. Almost too much actually. Marmalade on the nose and really thick on the palate. But the high acidity and low alcohol makes it work though. But too much for ice cream and strawberries. Pair with a Sacher Torte rather. Dag two: much improved! Acidity has the upper hand over the honey and syrup. Actually quite delish.

Very sweet but the high acidity helps to make it fresh and balanced. Intense, long, complex with citrus fruits, marmalade and apricots. Great! Will surely improve with time.

From two vineyards where they get the best acidity and picked at normal ripeness but then dried on mats for two to four weeks. And then put in oak barrique and then they forget about it. Natural fermented for about a year.
And heck, I just drank it. Its good stuff.

South African Chenin Blanc Tasting no.2: Very impressive in the nose, full ripe white flesh fruit, lime, tin pineapple, tin peach, ripe apricot, honey, syrup, orange dessert with a few glue nuances. In the palate, the wine is equally impressive, same flavor profile, honey, ripe to overripe white fruit, tin pineapple, peach and apricot jam, syrup, full body and intensity, high acidity, not cloying but clearly quite sweet, long finish. Outstanding. Wine of the night for me

A good wine. Sweet, syrupy and tropical. If anything a touch cloying for my taste and I’ve got a fairly sweet palate. Very enjoyable though.
