It was consumed a few days ago, so no formal description here, but this was just such a pleasing bottle. Not earth shattering or profound, but all around well made with a high delicious factor. Blackberry/cassis with some Bordeaux-esqe cedar, pencil lead, leather. Improved with time in glass (and day two).

Very very dark and inky. Bordeaux blend. Still youthful. Blackberry, cedar and caramel in the nose. More of the same in the flavor along with sage. Quite tannic at first, but this mellowed with breathing (in the glass!)

Four hour decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Blue fruit, candied pecan, pencil, wet gravel and subtle perfume on the nose. Strawberry salt water taffy kept wafting in and out. Smooth, cottony palate, with hearty, tongue drying acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. Two years since my last taste of this wine has made a big difference.
Sunfish Cellars Napa Valley Extravaganza (Sunfish Cellars/I Nonni Minneapolis, MN): This is a big wine and needs time. Menthol, floral, cherry, blueberries and oak. Concentrated and long finish. All the stuffing to age for a long time. Drink until 2032. 92-94. 81% Cabernet Sauvignon followed by 13% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.

5 years seems like a sweet spot for these wines. Still grippy, but resolved with time (2 hours decant) and food ( a grilled rib eye). Probably can go another few years with ideal storage. Cedar, graphite and cassis on the nose. Well-balanced on the palate. Oak comes through on the finish.

4th Wine at dinner and wine tasting at Cafe Maxx in Pompano Beach featuring wines by Blackbird Vineyards and its second label, Resolute. Deep purplish red. Big nose of cedar and blackberries. Very woodsy and earthy. Taste is similar with chalky dry tannins. Full bodied and silky smooth but dominated by wood tones at this point. Likely much better in a few years and I’m robbing the cradle at this point. Recommend at least another 2-3 years of cellaring. About a 90-91 for now.

Muted nose. Decanted for 2 hours.
Light red fruits on the mid palate. Minerality comes through and subsides before the finish.
Out of balance for me and I would not drink for another 5 to 8 years. The alcohol is not integrated. This may just be its youthfulness.
