Definitely into decline but super enjoyable especially if you like older Napa Cab. Extreamly well preserved bottle burried in the bottom of a dark cellar since release. Musty leathery black fruit, sweet raspberry, vanilla extract, damp soil, and prune. Still some that builds in the glass but not going to improve in my opinion.

The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Black Pepper, Cedar, Strawberry Jam, Black currant (cassis), and Cool/Menthol. It tastes like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Cedar, and Black Pepper. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Leathery texture. The wine finishes Medium.

Been a while since we have had this vintage, but this bottle wasn't as good as the last one. Seemed a bit one dimensional with it being heavy on pepper without much fruit showing through. Could be in a dumb phase at the moment or maybe we weren't patient enough. Shared it with a group of four people, so only had one glass to judge it.

very dark purple in color. Blackberry/Cherry on the nose with some pepper/spice. slight lavender/vanilla. Very fruity flavor. some tannins/dryness on the tongue. Will decant and try again. After decanting, much better... very enjoyable. Still on the sweeter side for me, but very enjoyable!

Developed very nicely since I had last time. Nose was still full of cedar and dark cherry but the palate open up to a smooth, well balanced finish. Was well worth the wait. I think this is as good as it will get. Drink up and enjoyed.

Dark purple with a mixed dark red nose. Black cherry, mint, vanilla, leather, some cedar, earth and minerality. Dusty dry, heavy weight and long finish. Hard to tell if this has balance because both the fruit and the tannins were too much. This needs some time. I'd wait 18 months before opening another.

This Mt. Veeder is in the prime of life -- and proud to show itself off! Dark inky purple, all the way to the edge, with magnificent legs. The luxuriant aroma is rich and deep, redolent of black plums, fine leather, and dusky tannins. On the palate, a silky melange of dark berries, a hint of licorice, and just a touch of black cherry at the very end. The finish lasts a good length of time, completing the outstanding experience.

Drunk side by side with a good Madiran, a good Burgundy, and a good Chateauneuf du Pape, and it compared very well. Much different obviously becuase it's New World style. But bigger and fruitier. Each wine is good in its own way, but this one was probably tied for top with the Madiran, for flavour. Excellent (89.5).

Pleasant burnt plum color. The wine's bouquet is its most impressive feature: very lively, but not overpowering; a fatty olive oil dominates, with hints of cedar, vanilla and cola nut. Palate is less impressive, dominated by black cherry with some pepper and a mild oak finish. However, the wine was quite unbalanced in my opinion: the body was watery and thin, but it seemed as though a hefty dose of tannins were retained in order to mask this shortcoming. Almost a great wine, but ultimately the tannins overpower it.

Bottle purchased at winery in 2007 and returned home. Had a nice, if non-complex, nose with dark fruit and cedar. Unmistakably napa cabernet, with deep, dark flavors and a punchy finish. This 2004 is still going strong.

When first opened, the wine was very hot but mellowed after only a couple of minutes. Tasted cherry and cedar. Nose was very earthy. Very nice finish although it wasn't a long finish. Should continue to age well.

The color is dark and brooding, but ten years has mellowed the tannin and it's drinking like silk. The taste lacked complexity and some earthiness, showing blackberry and little else. Add some more dimension to this frame and it would be a real killer.

A lot of cedar and dark cherry on the nose with hints of tobacco. On the palate, cedar, tobacco and cherries. An unbalanced finished which was very tannic and hot. May need several more years of cellaring.

Decanted and consumed over 2 hours with dinner. Strong balsamic charecter on the nose with cola and vanilla extract. Similar flavors with red fruit and chewy tannins. Forward and pleasant, but rustic and unrefined. Doubt the fruit will outlive this wine's tannic nature. Still enough to put this one firmly into the 80s, but I dont see this one making any drastic improvments. Drink or hold short term.

Round and rich black berry forward Napa Cabernet. Some more dark purple flowers and baking spice. Definitely some nice oak on this wine. Ripe currants with a unique licorice aroma on the back end. Finish is medium with moderate high tannins moderate acidity and moderate high alcohol. Solid vintage for the winery.

Very nice nose and has an old world to it. Lots of smoke and oak on the nose. Red fruits on the palate with a medium length on the finish. The transitions and consistently full of flavor. Good quality and well balanced wine. Tannins are a plenty. Give it a few more years, or decant for a few hours. Definitely try for 30 bucks.

Great wine party at Paul and Nancy's. This was the second tasting we had. Deep hue with garnet rim, glass-coating texture with dark berry aroma; not really fruity but intense blackberry to challenge the big tannins. Reasonable finish. I would guess this cab would be great with steak.
