Our first from a case of these and so glad we pulled one! I gave it about 30 minutes in the decanter - an experiment as I usually don't decant young Riesling - then served in Zalto Universal stems. Very compelling nose with tropical fruit, toasted bread, a slight yeasty note and grapefruit peel, slightly bitter. The mouthfeel was dynamite. Excellent concentration, intense electric feel on the tongue. Very complex and showing great persistence, made you want to swirl it around in your mouth to see what else it could show. I loved the acid level, right in my sweet spot. This stood up quite well to pork chops rubbed with a paste of mustard, curry powder and sherry vinegar. Loved it. Right up there with Keller von der Fels in terms of quality for the price, and that's a high compliment from me!

Decanted for 1h. Now 3h total decant. Somewhat shy aromas of citrus, tart apples, herbs, minerals. Palate has intense minerals rounded out by citrus, apples, herbs and a nice bitter grapefruit pith. Electric acids, now calmer than upon opening. Initially, the intensity of acids and minerals was almost painful. Now much more enjoyable. So young now but with a lot of potential.

Aromatisk med mye modne epler, litt mineraler og honning. Samme i munn men mere tropiske frukter og litt karamell i avslutningen. Typisk B-S stil med relativt rik frukt, men vinen mangler karakter og føles litt generisk og litt tung. Savner syrebitt. Hadde forventet litt mere. 86

This village (Ortswein) Riesling is from Hohen-Sülzen in Rheinhessen, strong fragrance of ripe yellow fruit, starting with a very balanced midpalate with limy flavours, delicious ripe stonefruit, ending long with a wonderful lush mouthfeel of ripe peaches, drink now and the next 3- 5+ years, **(*), 87-89+

Dag 1: Mineraler, grönt äpple och lite skirat smör i avslutningen. Ganska "fet" och tung med en lite spritigt stickig eftersmak. Överlag bra struktur, men med lite tråkiga nyanser. Ett bra vin är det dock utan tvekan, men inte anmärkningsvärt bra.
Dag 2: det gröna äpplet har helt plötsligt fått förstärkning av en mängd exotiska frukter. Mer nya världen, men fortfarande med den regionstypiska mineralrika, lätt syrliga karaktären. Mer spännande och roligare nyanser under dag två.

So delicious. Juicy with great acidity, lots of great fruit. Really enjoyable, paired well with shrimp cakes.
