Ok I am amending my earlier review. I was wrong. More air does help the wine. Poured full glasses and tried again and the wine is much more full and more structured. It is still not amazing but it is way better than Chianti. At this point not sure what to recommend as far as decanting but air significantly improved it.
Similar too previous notes but rated this wine too high. It’s maybe 89 points. Decanted for 30 minutes, tasted and poured back in the bottle because the air won’t help this. Very light in structure with a total lack of concentration. I can get the same thing with boring Chianti at half the price. This is an over priced pizza wine not worth the money. I don’t know if it’s me but the quality of BdM doesn’t seem nearly as good as 2007, 2010 or 2012. I’m starting to stear away from these now. Very unimpressive. More like a Happy Hour wine now.

Very muted nose, but still a lovely/balanced middle (albeit light) and decent lasting finish. Not sure if in dumb phase or what, but I don’t get the sense this one is going to last many more years in the bottle
Decanted 3.5 hrs then poured a half glass. First sip was….weird, what is this? Very light, complete funk, very acidic and I was just wondering what was going on. Finally after about a half hour the funk blew off and it became recognizable as Brunello. The wine needs a long decant at this point. That being said, this isn’t an amazing BdM. It is light, not very structured and seems a bit diluted really. Good news is I only bought four bottles and wouldn’t be inclined to buy more. Average at best.

Decanted two hours but it needs more air time at this point. Poured small glasses after two hours. First taste was acidic and thin. Let it in the glass for another 30 minutes. The wine didn't really come around and put on weight until well into hour 3 and 4. By the last glass the wine had become what I expect. Lots of red fruits, acid, earthy notes and flavor layers. I would probably decant 4 hours at this point. I will most likely not try another bottle for at least a year.
At the open: Smells of bright red fruit with earthy depth and a touch of alcohol Tastes of scratchy red fruit with a slightly austere finish Light-moderate tannin on the gums; swirling tape
After 1 hour Smells of bright red brooding fruit and star anise Tastes of elegant dark red fruit over a smooth textured earth with a hint of bitterness on the finish
This is a lovely elegant, Burgundy-like wine, with concise red fruit and earth; delightful.

Pop and pour- overall pleasant but lacking in intensity and concentration you find in higher quality brunellos. This was likely made to be enjoyed early and although this will likely improve for a few more years there’s no sense in waiting as I don’t see this improving much. I’d still recommend a 90 min decant though.

Seriously fresh and clean with blackberry, orange peel and hints of mushroom. Medium to full body, fine and silky tannins and a crisp finish. Drink now

Nice fruit and tannin balance but overall this is surprisingly light - quite a bit too light in my opinion. Leaves me wanting more.

Plenty of fruit and power, but still primary, oaky and tannic. Good potential, but needs a few more years.
