During Meo Riche evening this was the wine voted by most WOTN (I slightly preferred the 09 personally today, but just). It's a tour de force in depth of red fruit, very nice texture, powerful but not overripe and not too extracted. Still for hedonistic pleasure too early for me so it was more impressive and educational today than truly apax of drinking pleasure. Tuck these away for 10 years would be my advise!

Some wilder, musky/animale notes. Deep, dark and brooding, with some sarsaparilla root and aniseed. Really powerful and dense, great drive. Barely evolved and carried by perfectly ripe, yet substantial tannins.

Wine Group Dinner #176, Harvey's Restaurant, Brisbane. 2005 Grand Cru ( Ex-Gevrey ) Burgundy Dinner. (Harvey's Restaurant, James St, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.): Wine Group Dinner #176, Harvey's Restaurant, Brisbane. 2005 Grand Cru Burgundy Dinner. Another classic Richebourg that revealed less than the previous 2 bottles but expressed the classic characters on the nose of dark berry fruits, black cherries, dark chocolate, spice and earth. On the palate it was quite dense and closed but with a lovely texture in the mouth that spoke of quality. It all seemed to close down a little on the finish suggesting it could have been more fun in 2030 !

Highly spiced nose and palate. Classic Riche. Well nuanced with good minerality and complexity. As much as I liked this and I really did it suffered from the 05 Cros P in the next glass which was another level.

(Young) Meo Camuzet Dinner (Legacy Records): Initially this has the most character out of the ‘05 flight with pronounced Richebourg spice. With more air this has grown in size and projection and jockeying with the Cros P for top spot. Clean and pure but with some pleasant rusticity joining the spice. On the palate this is vibrant and lush and delicious. This has distant character, but comparatively a flicker less complexity and detail than the Cros Parantoux. Neither of these wines suffer from new oak modernity like the Echezeaux or Clos Vougeots.

- Purple color with medium forming legs and aromas of black currant and cherry. It's in total harmony and has flavours of blackberry and soy sauce with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Brillant wine. Still a lot of potential but the class is already very apparent. Can still remember the minute long finish a day later.

France Trip Part 3 - Burgundy; 6/20/2006-6/23/2006: Barrel sample tasted at the domaine. 100% new oak. Shows more spice than the Aux Brulees, and more closed at this stage. Deep black fruits, espresso. Amazing power and richness. Concentrated and fantastic. Awesome stuff!

Barrel sample tasted at the domaine. More closed on the nose than the previous samples (V-R Brulees, NSG Les Murgers, Clos Vougeot...). Stunningly pure black cherry fruit. Massive concentration and amazing ripeness and balance. Seamless. Incredible stuff.

Spectacular nose - dark fruit, violets, spice, earth and a touch of licorice. Still needs several years to begin to reach its potential.

Taillevent. Emphatic and assertive, and very fine.
