Not a fan of Cali Syrah which makes up the majority of the blend, very big and bold, little tannic, paired well with bleu cheese mushroom burgers with caramelized onions.

Dark fruit and coffee grounds was my first impression. Well integrated, just not sure how long this will last. A little hollow on the front palate, but picks up speed as it engulfs your mouth.

Big and rustic with dark berries, caramel, and pepper. Dark in the glass. Surprisingly ready with round soft tannins. Needs food or would be palate tiring.

Courtesy of R&D. Nice dark fruit and pepper with black raspberry and kirsch notes as well. Full-bodied and still somewhat primary and firm. Peppery dark fruit on the palate.

90 min decant paired with grilled chicken parm for Father’s Day. Massive wine. Loads of red and blue fruit. Inky purple almost black. Tons of sediment in the bottle. Closed upon opening-decant necessary at this age.

Pop and pour. Accessible and explosive right out the gate delivering exactly what I expect from Lewis. Tons of extracted dark fruit, mulled spice, sweet vanilla (heavy oak), pepper, and cassis. Taste wise the Cabernet/Merlot shine through more than the Syrah but the viscous texture is all Northern California Rhône. Structured but not tannic and made to be enjoyed sooner that later (5 year window). This is massive/heavy/syrupy wine that’s in remarkable balance.

Dark inky garnet colored, full bodied, concentrated black and blue fruits with notes of cola, spicy oak, hints of caramel and mocha on the chewy tannin finish.
This one started out with a very light nose, thank goodness the wine did show life on the palate. Dark berry fruit and plum notes with nice legs and meniscus. Nice appealing color, rich and with oak presence showing. 90+ points.

Bold and rustic, start to finish. Dark blueberry and plum notes precede gripping tannins that soften slightly. This wine is young and still tight, even after 3 hours of decanting. Will only get better in the next 3-5 years. Outstanding.

Probably drank this too young. Popped and poured. Shows its youthful Syrah character with lots of black and blue fruit, currants, and cocoa over earthy elements of tar, tobacco, and spices. Big and rich, powerful and concentrated, yet smooth and decadent, with fruit that masks its 15.5% abv. It's brooding, finishing long and bold. I wouldn't touch this again for another year or two, at least.

An excellent Alec's blend, similar in style to the 2002 version. Mocha, dark berry, spice and vanilla notes end with plush tannins that firm up on the finish consistent with its youth. The increased amount of merlot worked beautifully for the 2014 edition. If you have enjoyed previous vintages, this will be a treat.

Surprisingly massive tannins still given the minute amount of Cab and its age.

Had a few bottles at my birthday dinner. Lots of spice on the nose and a ton of flavor on the palate. Spice, red fruits and hint of oak. Great stuff.

Very drinkable today. Tons of fruit on the nose, and palette. To me this is Lewis's winner in 2014.
