Opened at Petrus in HK. Chilled, decanted and enjoyed over dinner.
This was a bit more advanced than I thought it would be, quite oxidative in style and the colour was quite deep and golden. it took a bit of air to open up, and I'm glad we decanted it, and slowly began revealing notes of white flowers and honey and pears. However, there wasn't as much energy, tension and precision through the acidity that I was hoping for. Perhaps just not the style of dry Riesling that I prefer, despite the pedigree.
Not enough experience with CsH to provide insight on aging potential. Honestly would stick with Keller GGs if given the choice - I genuinely think the winemaking's just better and certainly more my style.

10 years after Riesling tasting - 2013 (Restaurant Holz und Feuer, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Sophienwald Universal Drunk multiple times over 6h. Clear, medium golden color. Very deep and dense nose, beautiful. On the palate with enormous tension, power without being fat, high, racy acidity. Very elegant and balanced, wonderful salty core. Complex and long. Got better and better over time, not yet fully there, needs 5+ years to fully shine. Awesome wine in the making. 94+++

lots of polyurethane, strong scent of white flowers, with flint underneath, almost a little orange blossom water and marmalade. Color was surprisingly golden. Acidity was high but already more ripe than expected.

Notes of smoked white fruits and mineral on the nose. Great concentration of flavor, round texture, and impressive depth, with incredible precision on the long finish. Showing quite well right now, but surely this will age and improve for decades!

Tasted the same day as the tasting at the Trimbach winery but with added context. The winery sample was kindly offered despite not being included in our line-up so we decided to purchase one bottle to later enjoy at the hotel room in Strasbourg after watching Weber's 'Der Freischütz' at the Strasbourg Opera. Consistent with the previous tasting note I added the deep brass colour and extra layers of aromas like marzipan, lime and apricot framed by a petrol undertone, though not at the forefront for now. The texture is slightly creamy and very well charged with energizing acidity.

The fruit comes from the 1,67 hectare limestone vineyard of Rosacker in Hunawihr with an average age of 50 years. The nose is youthful after six years of age featuring a compelling mix of lemon, bergamot, melon and apricots laced with stony minerality and scents of honeysuckle. The real charm comes from the palate with riveting depth, an elegant texture and arresting purity. So long and penetrating on its finish.

Damn this is good. Subtle diesel, honeyed aromatics. Intense, mineral palate with attractive sweetness.
