Clear medium-ruby color. Aromas of red plum, hibiscus, coffee and dried herbs. High-toned plum and raspberry fruit on the palate, secondary herbal and floral notes in the background. Light to medium bodied, with an easy structure and medium acid. Finishes with light, grainy tannins and juicy dry fruit. Enjoyable and easy drinking- drink now.

Tasted blind. Bright red fruit with lots of greenness—green olive and green pepper. Very lively with the acidity. Not much complexity, but I appreciate that this wine’s character is clear. Rating: 88.
Guess the wine: I'm pretty sure this is Loire cab franc. Maybe 6 years old.

I've enjoyed all the Loire cabernet franc wines I've drunk. And I do not agree with the reviews below. This wine is elegant and distinctive. I love its potpourri aromas and its pinot-like red fruit and texture. More and more, I'm seeing the virtues of such lighter bodied reds for drinkability and elegance (not to mention price).

P: MF, poss Med, body; Almost swtish frt counterbalanced by an acidity which transitions into a long, only LIGHTLY structured finish. Delightful currently, & should hold through mid-'18 min. 90 pts John Gilman (9-10/'16); [As of mid Apr '20, wine-searcher shows no sources for this vintage].
Ignoring, I guess, the UP front pyrazines, I had this pegged as a '12 or '13 Aussie Shiraz, probably because of the jamminess. :(

I don't quite know what to make of this Chinon. It's sort of interesting in terms of depth and texture -- it's deep, and slatey, and differently enough textured that you wonder whether maybe their whole multiple-sited, multiple-terroired platonic Chinon thing isn't just a sales pitch. But while it has the acid it finally feels a bit lacking in electricity and lift. And while there's a bit of mushroom powder to it, it's finally lacking in earth and interest, too. I want this to be $17-18, but it's more like $25, and it doesn't beat its peers there.

Grassy, sweet but not jammy and a not entirely agreeable almondy sort of glue taint. Nice acidity, light to medium body.
