Taste tested the 2015 & 2016 on the same night & wow what a difference between the both.
The 2016 provided aromas of dark red fruits & on the palate this wine was silky smooth with very little acidity or tannins with an incredible finish.
The 2015 provided more aromas of wet cement & plum fruit notes & on the palate this wine was a little more acidity not overly complex with an ok finish.
So on the nose the 2015 was the definite winner however on the palate the 2016 was the definite winner with its extremely smooth & silky finish. Quite interesting both wine were distinctly different with the 2016 outshining the 2015.

👁️ More medium red tint then the purple that you expect from syrah, 👃 Leather, boysenberry, blackberry, chocolate , spice or rather a tint pepper 👅 Blackberries continue coupled with pepper and some herbaceous notes. Alcohol brings the heat. Slight meatiness. Med+ acidic and med+ body. Medium length
Point verdict would be 91 on this decent wine. Well worth a try!

Persistenza infinita.

Deep purple colour, nose of blackberry, black current, herbs and smoke. Palate is full bodied. Big acidity and tannin. Same fruit profile as nose with tobacco and earthiness. Plenty of life in this yet. Not that complex, despite being quite "big" it keeps any overpowering characteristics in check.

This needed some time to open up. On the second night, it is dark in colour, with plum, earth and iron on the nice nose. Medium bodied, with dark plum and cherry notes, blueberries, a mix of green and black olives, iron and some nice ripe tannins to give it a little backbone. A very nice Crozes, good QPR (A-).

This wine was very nice, savory, with a bit of brett actually. Lots of things going on in the nose: bay leaf, crushed rocks, and a bit of barnyard. On the palate, dark unsweet fruit with firm black pepper notes on the finish. An old-world wine of character. I enjoyed it, but it didn't signify 2015 to me in any particular way. I would be looking for more ripe red fruits, which weren't there in this case.

Dark ruby with high optical density and high specular reflectivity. Medium intensity of straight-ahead aromas, with strawberry, dark cherry, light dusty florals and gravel, and a touch of herbal savory, spicy pepper. On the palate, medium acidity, medium to full body, fine-grained tannins, and a texture that is open, but with a bit of grip. Dances across the palate, but without much tension or electricity. Flavours of light strawberry and tart darker black raspberry on the attack. Herbal and floral notes kick on at midpalate. Simple, and medium complexity, with good intensity of flavours. Finishes with green pepper and spicy charred black pepper. Medium minus length.
This is a nice and controlled red wine with a dry and commanding presence. Depth is not canyon level, more like a swift, waist-deep cool river. Sort of flows by to provide more interest, but the flavours stay in swift running lines. Really nice to find a Rhone wine with controlled EtOH, that is well balanced. While not being super ripe, this avoids excessive pyrazine content; it adds a zesty interest without distracting from the wine. Good for a big dry red occasion, but not a candy bomb in any way.

Dark red. Very concentrated nose, earth, meat, black cherry and some pepper. Delicious textured earthy cherry fruit and black pepper flavours. Very dry tight finish.
Not as obvious Syrah . The 2016 is very syrah driven while this one is more about the vintage.

Chapoutier Masterclass (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Blackberry, quite polished initially but becomes more rustic with time, green peppercorns, slightly smoky, meaty notes. It's a little sour initially on the palate and quite et with wild blackberry, meaty notes and muted peppery spice. Finishes with plenty of alcohol heat. Meh

tasted september, 2017 decanted for 1 hour then drunk over 90 min color - showing purple violet tinges, not inky at all, young nose- a bit tight at first and started to develop scents of blue fruit , expressive and began to provide hints of salami and smoked meats. very nice! palate - right from the start this was quite nice, a bit reserved. the weight of this is perfect for a syrah at this level. over an hour an half, this built up and showed dark fruits, very good freshness for this vintage. concentration and structure tells me that this will develop over the next 5 years. at about 15 euros a bottle in france, this is a steal. remembering the o5 of this at the same moment, this surely has more heft and great QPR. will but another 2 or three bottles this for the ride
