  • Rich, dense and packed with dark fruits, red fruits, berries, cherries and some charcoal. Felt this drank much younger than 23 years old. 96 acid was in check and balanced. Not over done at all. A really nice VR with good spice and VR character. A much fresher bottle than the previous bottles of this wine. Drink over the next 5 years would be my view.

  • Agree with Kemo, but the fruit is fading.

  • Very consistent with previous two notes I have posted on this wine. Nice wine, time to drink up. No further upside yet still enjoyable now.

  • Similar to last bottle - lots of dusty, musty, earthy notes on the open. Needs 30-45 mins to blow off. Consumed over 3 hours. The wine retains the earthy tones but gives way to cherries, red fruits, strawberries. Still a lot of structure in this 96 as the tanins are in the forefront. Still, this is quite nice and not fading. Some minor heat but doesnt really detract from the experience. Decent finish. Dont see upside from here but this is not going downhill anytime soon.

  • Fantastic stuff and in the zone right now. Fully secondary with a wow nose and lots of earth and funk on the palate.

  • Medium red ruby in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Forward, attractive & aromatic nose of complex, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & red currants with floral & spice overtones of sandalwood, cloves & cinnamon, coffee, earthy/loam, truffles, herbs, tea, minerals & hints of sous-bois in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of silky & elegant textured, complex, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, strawberries & plums with spices, mushrooms, minerals, herbs & a touch of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well with extended airing but has some limited potential for further development with additional aging.

  • Opened and drank over 3 hours with beef tenderloin. Earthy and a little musty but not bothersome. Most of the musty aspect below off over the first hour. The wine is a deep dark red and no bricking. After the blow off the wine gave way to dark cherries, sous bois and other earth and mineral flavors. Acidity still good from this high acid vintage so think these will keep for some time to come.

  • A bit of barnyard on the nose to start which resolved leaving behind wonderful dark fruit and spice. On the palate generous and ample dark fruit, spice, black tea. Acid is in check. Nice length and very smooth texture. The best and last bottle of my lot of 4.

  • Not very impressive when first opened, but with air this turned into a wonderful charming wine. Lots of Vosne spice on the nose with earthy notes and dark fruit. Fine balance and weight on the palate. Not on the same level as the other wines, but a very good wine in its own right that was quite enjoyable with the KBBQ.

  • Opened but not decanted 2 hours before drinking.Pale colour some bricking. Lovely sweet strawberry nose , gentle wafts of sous bois and pinot fruit. Very understated. Surprisingly intense on palate, plenty of 96 acidity and structure but red fruits to the fore. Very refreshing and long finish. Lovely bottle
Drank with Grivot's 96 Suchots which was much more muscular and backward

  • Massively improved over the last bottle. A little barnyard/earth aromatically on each pour over the course of the entire bottle, shifting to classic Vosne "spice". Same true on the palate, only more nuanced in all aspects. Excellent stuff. Try again in a couple of years.

  • A perfect bottle in a perfect spot. Wonderful spice, earth, sweet fruit, wet leaves, touch of olives and mushroom. Palate is perfectly smooth and balanced. No risk of decline but such a complete experience now.

  • A delicious dinner: Beautiful, refined red Burgundy from a great vintage at the peak of its perfection. Fairly light in cololur with a bit of fading to orange at the edges, but a fully developed nose of violets, cherries and raspberries, and enough volatility to give it a pleasing lift. It was fully integrated on the palate, with the silky tannins providing the framework for great depth and breadth of flavour with great balance between the mature fruits and acids/tannin. Long, long finish. A teriffic wine.

  • A bit wayward. Morphed quite a bit over the course of the evening but there was always something a little off on the palate -- for a while it was a big hole in the mid-palate. Fairly abrupt and harsh on the finish for much of the bottle. Aromatics quite a bit better overall -- some pretty interesting notes of earth, licorice, etc. from time to time. Bottle was in great shape and there's no rush to get through them; just wonder if and to what extent they improve from here.

  • Red berry notes, infused with distinct forest floor, menthol. There is plenty of punch here, with characterisitic '96 acidity, with dried strawberry and cranberry notes on the finish, which also has black licorice.

  • did the Auduoze method on this one today, better results but still fell a tad short for a higher score

  • lovely nose of bing cherries, slight damp soil, candy strawberry, and lots of spring flowers. delicate yet profound nose. on teh palate, nice entry but very light in the middle and pretty short on the finish. tart strawberries, some pomegranate, and some dried cherry. balance but way too short, probably a few years down the hill.
