The '80 Ponsot is a characterful wine, balancing elegant red cherry notes and mellow, savory game. Soft and broad. Resonant in the mouth though, unlike the 85 beside, this faded slightly in the glass whereas the 85 continued to expand.

Half bottle. Supposed to be legendary, but madeira (with some citrus/candied fruit notes). Hopefully will drink from full bottle of good provenance soon...

Boisson Vadot White Wines & A Mix of Old Red Burgundy (Paradise Valley, AZ USA): Served blind, the vintage reveal was shocking as this was drinking considerably younger. I thought it was '93 at the oldest, and wouldn't have been surprised if it were '02. Dark color, and lots of sauvages, with marvelous intensity. So many layers and it kept bouncing around feeling at times very young and moderately mature. The metaphor that sprang to mind was a young prodigy that’s a genius, model, and athlete. This is as complete and impressive as one could ever want.

Hugh’s bottle, gifted by Sean. Wine of the Night for me but not for others. The French expression “animale” immediately came to mind as soon as I got a wift. Feral, dead leaves, wet fur, funky. Remarkably full on the palate and well balanced. A revelation for me.

A vintage of this wine that I had not previously experienced. The nose hits on the desired elements of dark fruit, red fruit, sweet spices, and earth. Palate with good depth of flavor and balanced fruit, acid, and smooth mature tannins. Perhaps recent a peak, this wine should still perform well for quite some time.

The nose is clearly oxidized but on the palate the quality shows through - sweet and dense wine. Such a shame the nose was so awful, this wine is a legend!

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep purple/red center with some lightening at the rim. The moderate intensity nose showed plums, soy, figs, and soil.
In the mouth it was medium bodied with very light tannin, light acidity, and moderate length. Maybe this wine did not get enough air, or my taste buds were a bit off, but I did not sense the presence out of this one that one should expect from a big time wine like this. I have heard some reports of bottle variation and I know this certainly can be an impressive wine.

This bottle displayed a deep red center with light red rims. While I tasted it blind, afterward I was surprised that a pinot of this vintage was so deep colored. The nose was spectacular showing intense sour cherry, cola, soil, and black fruit.
Initially, this wine was medium bodied and much more restrained in the mouth that in the nose. Slowly it began to reveal its flavor profile starting with rhubarb and adding cherries, soil, brown spices. It needed 2.5 hours to show its best. All of this suggests to me that this wine is very strong and just coming into its drinking window.

Poised and balanced in its graceful decline. Soil elements beginning to overtake the fruit. Beautiful mature Burgundy.. Time to drink. 94-95

Supple with an appealing mix of spices and soft red fruit. Good bottle. Time to drink though.

Intact and still a well structured wine. But this, and other bottles, trending towards acid on the finish, even more so after air time. Drink up. 93-

Likely minor storage issue marred the surface nose and palate. But there was something nice left underneath.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner (Château de Meursault): Small glass, brief note. Superb combination of fresh and maturing red berry and cherry aromas, then equally charming red cherry flavors. Fantastic.

Certainly not a Rudy wine. He wouldn't have liked the tattered label. Sous bois, autumnal, elegant, sweet. Very good mature burg.

Not a great example of this but still very good, very pretty if a bit strident and muddy.
