Roulot's 2015 Luchets is rich with ripe apple but is drinking better than I expected it would on release, moderately bright with a fine mineral complexity. Good length to the finish. Roulot is always a pleasure and, while it will never be my favorite vintage, the 2015s are coming around.

PNP into Spiegelau Burgundy glass (“Leaf” day): Medium golden to the eyes.
Sulfurous notes suggesting some good level of maturity. Ripe apricots, peaches. Honeysuckle and florals. Fresh creme, sweet biscuit notes in the best way.
Super clean and yet deep on the palate.
94-95 points easy for this showing.
3 hours in, 1/5 left: more fruits came back to the palate. Amazed at how drinkable this is now. More like solid 95 points.

The impressive breed shows through on this Meursault, both on the nose and the attack. Well paired with a fish dish that featured citrus. Seamless and elegant - oddly many reviewers were not as favorably impressed this wine but perhaps it is starting to show its stuff. It was served with the 2015 Coche Rouget’s, and it is not as deep a wine but is still excellent and a great comparison of styles.

A wine that needs time to open. A nose of lemon, flowers, oak and herbs. Great citrus and stone fruit; minerals, salt and a restrained butterscotch/oak. Balanced.

Super refined and elegant mouth feel. Soft. Clean and linear. Crisp Citrus profile. Grapefruit. Touch of caramel/popcorn on the finish to start although disappeared with time in the glass. Added weight and power with time and air. No real obvious signs of heat of vintage. Doesn’t have the flinty/matchstick on a young pycm. But richer and less linear. Very approachable.

Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 2/28/2020-2/29/2020 (Spiaggia - Chicago IL): Alongside Boucheres 2013. Rich and ripe apple throughout, coming across as lush to start (very 2015), then much brighter and texturally bright on long finish. Very good+ for its level. Better tonight vs when tasted at the domaine in 2017.

Two visits to Waiheke Island (Easter 2019 and New Year's 2020) (Auckland, NZ): Pale colour. Spicy and perfumed with white florals. A rich and full seeming bouquet. On palate, a lovely Meursault but – reflecting the vintage – ripe and rich, lacking some intensity and acidity. Pears, peaches and other orchard – and a little exotic – fruit, with a little citrus. Simon noted the “nice generosity” while Tamra said that the “phenolic edge replaces the acidity”. There is a touch of apricot kernel bitterness on the finish. Overall, a good, open Meurault, to drink sooner, rather than later, I would think.

Very rich and full bodied chardonnay here. Looked like it was going to be over blown as it got warmer, but it all held together. Rich lemon curd, lime juice, creamy. Delicious. Such a special wine

HDH auction at Spiaggia; 6/22/2018-6/23/2018 (Chicago, IL): From a bottle opened the night before. The nose here shows pretty stereotypically Roulot, with its light hand, and that classic dose of minerality. The ripeness shows here on the back end with the fruit quite fleshy, but this doesn't come off as hot like so many other 2015 whites I've had. Maybe I made a slight mistake not hunting these down with more concerted effort.

There's some sun drenched citrus fruits and plenty of mineral. In the mouth it has intense sweet yellow fruits but the wine has restraint and shows elegance. The finish is fine and chalky.

tasted blind and definitely Burgundy 2015 but initially impossible to detect the normal razor-sharp acidity and crispness of Roulot in this wine. After some time it came but still less attractive than many other Roulot cuvees (although these are on a really high level). Overall quite nice for 2015.

Domaine Roulot Cellar Visit and Tasting (Meursault): Tasting at the domaine. First bottle had been open a full day and might not have been recorked in a timely manner. It had a rich, buttery start followed by ripe apple with good energy. A second bottle was opened that was less fat to start, but still the same overall rich character. Certainly very good overall for its level, but more "2015" than most of the Roulot cuvées today.

Good, but honestly I expected more from this Roulot. I think that was my fault. Light, balanced and airy with nice subtle flavors of orchard fruit.
