9th Annual Holiday Dinner and Cellar Raid (Naperville, IL): Part of wine dinner and cellar raid so did not take detailed notes. First of the Cab Franc's and wanted to start with a Chinon so people can see where it is most prominent. Very light on it's feet and the fruit was fading a bit, but still very elegant.

Still a somewhat bright dark purple; ripe-ish blackberry, blackcherry, moderately round, soft, great fruit with wet tobacco, slight ripe bell pepper, earth tones along with the soft fruit. vintage and age of this bottle are actually quite nice and I'm surprised how well it's held up. W/BBQ burgers outside.

I had this wine recommended to me from Seigel's wine store in Addison, TX when I requested a 100% Cab Franc. I'd been drinking a few cab francs at the time, and they said this one was a great value. I agree 100%. Better than a couple $30 and $40 bottles. I didn't take notes, so I won't rate, but I enjoyed this very much. I am going to buy more and will make notes then.

Medium in color (ruby) and body, the main aroma and taste is of dark fruit, a touch of smoke and butter, but distinctly herbaceous. The tannins are soft but obvious, the attack contains marked acidity, and the moderately long finish includes a peppery zing. Overall, a very nice example of Cabernet Franc and Chinon viticulture.

Poured at a retailer tasting. Ruby color, with aromas of tobacco, bright cherries and spices. Light to medium bodied, with tart red fruit flavors on the attack. Fine grained tannins and red currants on the midpalate lead into a mineral and cherry packed finish.

September Wine Club Tasting: The Loire (Gibby's): Ruby color. Notes of raspberry, cherry, tea leaf and a clay/minerally note. With more air a herbal/tobacco note emerged. Quick rush of red fruit on the attack, nicely balanced across the palate. Flavors of loamy, chalky red fruit carry sweet and approachable tannins. 87-89.

Strongly tannic wine that is too young to fully enjoy unless one lives in the middle of the oak forest :). Ruby color and berry flavors.
