this is a big wine, has pinot characteristics but also some syrah like density and texture. purple (not red) fruits, good concentration, and coats your mouth.

I picked up a bottle of this on clearance at $47 (!) and wanted to crack it open to see if a) the other CT notes on this were accurate and b) if so, how accurate were they in determining whether I should go back and pick up more bottles on clearance.
Let's just say, I went back and bought another 4.
This, to me, is as good as you'll get at this price point for any wine, anywhere in the world. I think with 5-7 years this is going to pick up another point. This was poured into a Spiegelau Definition Burgundy glass (for when I don't feel like breaking my Zalto Burgundy!)
Appearance: This is quite dark and brooding in nature. You can feel the density as you swirl it in the glass.
Nose: A kaleidoscope of aromas leaps out of the glass. Black cherry, plum, raspberry, mint, little bit of sous bois. Tiny bit of funk that blew off after 5 mins.
Palate: This is so rich and rewarding to drink. It's opulent, generous, and absolutely massive in scale. The tannic structure is absolutely immense and this needs plenty of time to unfurl. For the flavors themselves, we've got bing cherry, plum, raspberry, cranberry - more red than blue fruit - but also some spice, orange peel, and earthiness.
If you see this bottle of wine, buy it. Clearance or not. If you want to drink it now, decant for at least 8 hrs.

Delicious wine. Massive, fine tannins. Needs time. Black cherry, blackberry, earth. It's a bit ripe, but still wonderful. I look forward to trying this again in a decade or so.

I am hesitant to add tasting note on a wine that I believe will be a superb offering from a great producer in about 3 or 4 years. Some of the notes I have read were written by some unbelievably poor judges of burgundy. Even today it is a great burgundy, but would decant for at least an hour. Flavors of strawberry, plum with very refined tannins. My advice is to buy all you can and start drinking in 2022.

Decanted for two hours. Ripe and full-bodied, there’s a stunning nose of dried strawberry, wet earth, button mushroom, fresh sliced plum, crumbling rock, saline and a little black pepper. The finish expands and is long, with fine, yet slightly velvety tannins and a very jubilant persona. I love the strawberry and garrigue aftertaste. Quite modern, with a luscious way. Regardless of its forward style, there’s tension and austerity as well. Decant or wait. Drink 2023 - 2038.

Quite dark, almost opaque garnet; light creosote on the nose; hmm, this is definitely from a warm vintage, shows a lot of ripeness, heat, some spice which may be from alcohol, bit of a roasted fruit quality. Not up to the quality I expect from this wine, and not something I think will gain from extended cellaring.

Young Burgundy Flight (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Lighter ruby. Earth, black fruit, briary. Ripe but brooding fruit, wonderful soil and ground coffee followed by a smack of tannins. This is excellent, and I much preferred it to the Pavelot Savigny.

Tasted after their Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres this again was rather firm and tight, to some extent lacking the generosity and charm of the vintage - at least at this early stage. Very long though. 89-90+(+?)

Needs at least 30 minutes to open. Alcohol is still potent.

Super young. Save other bottle for YEARS. Lots of tannin left even after four hours open.

So rich and full of savory. Brilliant wine with so many flavors. This is really big pinot. Thanks!

Intense red and dark fruits but the tannins here are very firm and this is shutting down. Tough to judge at this point.

Visit to Chandon de Briailles-2015 Wines (Savigny-lès-Beaune, France): Not as deeply colored as the first 2 wines. Much more earth on the nose. Strong red fruit, higher acidity, good soil, and solid tannins. Refined, elegant for the year, clearly for the future.
