Vibrant ruby with just a hint of garnet. Plum and saddle leather on the nose. Cherry cola, licorice, and fresh herbs on the palate. Chewy tannins, the warm year definitely stamped a noticeable heat on the long finish. Best after open 4 hours, it all works. This is great stuff, just entering early peak. Drink or hold for another 5 years.

Tasted after a Wedding Duty Event (The Ritz Carlton Millenia, Singapore): Medium deep garnet with marked browning edges. Aromas of dill, tarragon, rosemary, and some ripe cranberry, with strong toast and almonds. Still a little bite of the tannins, mouthwatering acids, and fairly intense flavours of the red cherry, rosemary and dill, as well as some red flowers, cloves, nutmeg, and toast, then savoury beef roasts. Medium length, and good complexity

Bought in Malpensa airport duty free in 2017. Medium to full body, mature garnet colour. Impressive black and blue fruits aroma complemented by flowers, cedar wood, spices box and tar background. Typical Montalcino palate of cherry, blackberry and plum, finishing long by juicy acidity and muscular tannins. Rich structured and complex wine but elegant, harmonious and balanced. Food friendly, well paring with beef risotto. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Open two hours ahead. Drink now to end of the decade.

Pop and pour. Wanted something dark and dense. My wife tasted this (without seeing any identifying information) and said "no". Sigh. On the nose: some va, blood orange, ripe red fruit, loads of mint and herbs, much more open than last time. On the palate: excellent acidity, but still almost impenetrably dark, with intense tannin, but somehow lackong density on the midpalate. Somewhat imbalanced, but would perhaps be better with a different food pairing.

Visiting Vancouver and the Willamette Valley; 8/26/2021-8/30/2021 (Vancouver, WA and the Willamette Valley, OR): This well-cellared bottle was decanted off of its moderate sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing two hours, during which time it continued to improve. Deep red/garnet in color, it serves up an enticing aromatic profile of Montmorency cherries, red bramble fruits, lavender, baking spices and cocoa. Medium-bodied and vibrant on the palate, it delivers flavors similar to the aromas, accented with a touch of loamy earth. The wine's alcohol (14.5%) and oak lurk nicely in the background, and the medium-weight tannins are silky in texture. Solid in the middle and concluding with impressive length, this is a stellar Brunello that is in a very good place. It should easily reach its twentieth birthday. Drink now-2032.

This is full throttle BdM, not my typical style, but I was in the mood for it and it delivered. Other recent notes capture it well. This holds together the ripeness well. Dark cherry, sour cherry, wild berries, garrigue (yes), spice, mint?, some prune and raison in a good way! 14.5% abv but no heat or heaviness. A really inviting, enveloping wine.
Happy with this as a "mystery" purchase a few years ago in the mid-$30s USD.

Nose doesn’t have the usual trait of the earthy smell when opened. Have tried 13/14/15. Not nice if it is due to the vintage or the aging. Cherry, perfumery with vanilla, leather and spice come after decant for an hour. High tannis which will be better in couple of years later I reckon. Alcohol and acidity is medium plus with medium finish. This particular bottle can be aged for another decade...

Delicious! Nose: spiced plum, fresh rained on forest, some spice Taste: a ton of power, very well balanced but interested on how it will age. Some cigar box, deep dark fruit, a bit closed. Decanted for a 1/2 hour. Next bottle try in 2022/23.
Had with Tenderloin, yams, Quattro, and kale salad! Beautiful dinner!! Faye had smoked salmon bagels and kale salad and ate it all!! We talked about Italy and our favourite foods. A very nice COVID New Year’s Eve.

Palate: Very high acidity. Lots of dates and raisins. Very interesting mix of aged flavours and bright acidity. Tannins are soft and well integrated. Dry. Great structure. Full body. Lots of fun to drink now. Great with fatty cheese.
Finish: Raisin flavours shine and last here. Long finish.

Agree with a lot of the notes below... Medium in color and body. The wine was very shut down at first. Eventually the aromas present were reddish fruits and earth. On the mid palate, more fruit, but tannins present and acidic, not very balanced. No decant, after pouring a few glasses it settles down a bit. A decent little wine but nothing crazy. I have one more bottle that I'll sit on for a couple of years. As another noted below, the fruit could eventually give way to more earthy and tertiary aromas and flavors. Wait 3-5 years.

Sat for an hour after opening. Initially had high acidity, felt abit out of balance, but after an hour or so it opened up nicely. Some spiciness emerged as it sat. On the nose red fruit and violets, some earth. Palate is a medium body wine with medium plus tannins. Acidity maintains throughout. Mid palate is abit thin but overall abit more expensive than I would have liked.

The wine is clear with a bright, medium ruby color.
The nose is clean with medium intensity showing notes of ripe red fruit (cherry, strawberry, cranberry), black fruit (blackberry), dried herbs and hints of pungent spice (paprika, juniper). The wine is developing.
The wine is dry with medium acidity, medium (+) tannins, high alcohol, medium body, medium length and medium flavor intensity of red fruit (strawberry, cherry), black fruit (blackberry) and pungent spice (paprika, juniper).
The wine is good. Even though it has solid complexity and the balance of alcohol and acidity is there, it comes off as a rather underwhelming Brunello lacking focus and intensity. With the fruit coming off as sweet rather that fresh, the wine loses significant vibrancy. The wine may show some further development as the primary aromas convert into tertiary in the bottle, but the lack of length makes this a rather average cellar candidate.

Tasted over two days. The first day showed tight dried cherry, damp soils with leather and tobacco undertones. On the second day the wine opened up and showed off some sexy floral notes in addition to the above, but had much more structure. A nice brunello, but would like it more for about $20 less.

Elegant and fragrant nose of ripe red cherries and tomato, toasted cinnamon sticks, almond and savoury ham. The palate is fresh and open with notes of sour cherries, licorice, mixed herbs and soft earthy spices. A medium bodied and gentle mid-palate with good concentration. Finish is somewhat chalky at first, just need some breathing to soften and integrate it to the overall smooth finish. Minimal decanting required as it is already ready to drink now. Should continue to evolve for a few more years.

12 Days of Christmas - 2018; 12/21/2018-1/1/2019 (NYC, Vermont, Lake Placid): From the wine list at Peter Luger. This was our first bottle for Christmas lunch with friends. It was okay, a little chunky on the palate, dark fruited, some tar and lots of acid, tannins still a bit biting. We then tried the Heitz but quickly moved back to this for bottle three. Drinkable but would not seek it out.

Nice Brunello, lighter hued than most Brunellos, nose is a bit boozy, stewed black fruit. Prune, blackberry, lead pencil/graphite mid palate, solid acidity and tightly wound tannins structuring. Long 60sec, slightly warm finish. Early, will wait to settle a few years.

A very austere nose with notes of plums, cherries, some stoney, earthy and hay-like minerality, with a hint of vanilla and nutmeg. The wine seems a bit astringent and off-balance as of now, which may have been an age-issue. On the palate it has medium acidity, med+ acidity, with some cedarwood in the medium finish. A decent wine, but not worth the price.

Gambero Rosso Singapore 2017. Sniff, sip, spit. Only impressions. Toasty oak, mocha, and then lots of rich black fruit within. Already some hints of earth and leather. Good stuff, in the black fruited big brunello style. Somehow preferred this to Gaja's 2011 Pieve Santa Restituta Brunello, comparing style for style.

The nose was dark with masses of sweet and spicy black cherry, chocolate and floral tones. On the palate, i found soft textures backed by intensely concentrated dark red fruits, spice and hints of mocha. Even through the richness in this glass, a wave vibrant acidity provided freshness, which lasted throughout the finish. This may not be my personal preference for Brunello, but it’s a solid performer for those looking for an extroverted style.

This is drinking well. Decanted 2 hours. Extremely well balanced with only a slightly tannic finish.

Fine Wines SG - Italian Varietal Wine Dinner - Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Corvina, Aglianico, Nerello Mascalese (Porters Restaurant & Bar): Nose dominated by grey smoke, which persists to the palate and finish. Also has dried rose, blackberry, and a bit meaty

Quite a welcoming wine, dried dark fruits, cherry, light earthy and leather. Happy wine, crowd pleasing and versatile for food. Will not disappoint but not one for long ageing we felt. 89

Transparent ruby in colour, no sediments
Complex nose of ceder, red cherry, vanilla, but the aroma is overwhelmed by acidity after two hours in glass
One-hour decant should be sufficient
Mouth pickering tannin accompanied by high acidity, generous minerality, long seedy bitter aftertaste

Très arômatique comme Brunello, du fruit rouge, des épices, du cuir, quelques herbes. C'est très asséchant en bouche, bonne longueur. Belle découverte.

3rd bottle I’ve had in the past 12 months. Decanted 90 min. Dark cherry, herb, and animal skin profile. Good nose and presence, but really lacking “umph” in the late palate and finish. Priced a bit high compared to some superior BdMs.

Had to taste it before buying more: now 91, a sure 92-93 in a few years. Typical brunello: nice balance between fruits, tannins, oak and acidity.
