This is a nice improvement from when I last had this bottle in 2020. Opened in the bottle several hours on night one and it remained sharp/hot (though plenty of ripe red fruit showing). A pump overnight did the trick here to mellow it. The second day still had the ripeness but plenty of cool mineral, roses, truffle and tar to back. Tannins grip to your teeth but smoother overall. These need at least 5 more years but showing potential.

Very disappointing. I brought this wine to an Italian tasting and dinner where we had fabulous Italian wines. Unfortunately this one didn't hold up to the others. This one tasted more like cherry cough syrup than a nice bottle of wine. Very dry with minerals. Strong cherry and still a very strong alcohol taste with a long unpleasant after taste. I really wanted to like this wine so we tried decanting for a while and came back to it a couple hours later. It mellowed but the cherry cough syrup was still the first impression. The alcohol remained strong. Maybe a few years will help but I am not excited to try this one again.

Opened in the bottle for three plus hours. More evolved and approachable than I was expecting. The nose radiates with dusty cherries, sweet strawberry and truffle. The palate follows suit but adds an intense cooling mineral element on the finish. Still highly acidic and tongue drying so needing a few years to mellow. Overall good not great but more enjoyable to drink than you’d expect.

(Blind tasting) Medium-fullish nose of cherry and flowers. Minerals and nice raspberry hints. Very flowery actually. Almost perfume. Rose-hip nebbiolo aromas and a chocolately note. Medium-fullish, flowery palate. Sweet cherry and violets. A bit pruney and bit volatile (detracts). Very dense and concentrated. Still youthful and with harsh tannins. Will be better in 5-10 yrs.

Pop and pour. Bright ruby-garnet color. Gorgeous perfume of violets and rose hips. In the mouth, elegant fresh red fruit (raspberries, plums). Long and tasty. Not much tannin showing at this point. Open 4 hours: The perfume is just stunning. Light, elegant, with tannins present on the finish, but not overpowering. A beautiful wine, but not a long ager, I think. 92-93

Bruno Giacosa Tasting (PWS): Cherry and charcoal, graphite and slate, and expressive violet florals give this an immediate appeal. Delightful on the palate, had plenty of red fruit character and lift but also the more serious savoury and structured side to it. Time will definitely be a friend to this wine, but it does have something to say for itself now as well.

Extremely tight and unyielding on day one and no pleasure derived. Day two it showed some florals and red fruits but still remained compact and sinewy with a slightly astringent finish.

Day 2 in Piedmont (Giacosa, Conterno, & Cavallotto) (Piedmont, Italy): Another youthful wine to the point of austerity. It had a core of tightly wound cherry, roses, & earth. The tannins, though...so, so, so, tannic. For me, the tannins were distracting to the point of being unenjoyable.
