Thanksgiving 2021 (Pleasant Ridge, MI): A baby is this format. Concentrated white fruit with so much smoke, mineral and ocean salinity. A firm acid backbone provide lift and length. A long, long life ahead.

Fonte Canale Vertical with Cristiana Tiberio & Levi Dalton: The nose was deeply expressive, showing more like a steely white Burg than what you’d expect from an Italian Bianco. Here I found a display of rich white stone fruits, savory minerals, rubbed sage, sea air, and hints of spice. On the palate, I found round textures on a medium-bodied frame, showing savory minerals, framing green apple, young peach, and saline-infused yellow citrus. The finish was long, with saturating minerals tones, resonating tart apple acidity, hints of lemon peel, and inner florals.

short decant which was obviously not enough, hi acid lemony tastes, short finish. Compared to the '14 this is horribly young and shrill. Hopefully time will allow this to flesh out.

Abbruzzo study (Chicago, IL): Slight bit of smoke on the nose, as well as a slight peach note (sans any sweetness). Mineral, herbal, and clean, this is a very crystalline example of the grape. Heaps of structure, with lots of acidity, but some body to help balance it out. With some air, more fruit seemed to develop, and this filled out a bit. I liked this far more than the 2016 version.

Wow, what intensity I found in the 2015 Fonte Canale. Now a full year after release and my initial tasting. Tonight I found a mineral-drenched and mesmerizing bouquet of green apple, with smoke, savory herbs, dried florals and long-aged gouda. On the palate, soft textures were immediately firmed up by a core of saline-minerality and lemony-acidity, nearly bursting at the seams with tension, showing tart pit fruits and botanicals, which filled all of the senses. The finish was long and almost salty, lingering on yellow citrus and gingery spice in the center, as inner floral and herbal tones resonated throughout.
The 2015 Fonte Canale is drop-dead gorgeous and should have an amazing future ahead of it. Bury your bottles for a few more years in the cellar.

trebbiano abruzzese (the most noble clone) from old old vines, ungrafted and incredibly expressive, will age better than valentini, complex, aromatic with structure, buy all you can and try not to drink them too young!

A wine that was highly recommended to me when I was in Rome over the summer. Ian Agata gave 95 points in Vinous. Decanted for 30 mins. Nose has some citrus, lemon peel, straw and minerals. Palate has good acidity with lemon zest and oak. It is a bit lean and simple. No complaint for a 30usd white, but this is not at valentini's level for a trebbiano.
From 80-year-old, ungrafted vines. This is apparently made in the exact same way as the regular trebbiano, which is very surprising, given how different they are. This is much denser and a little more weighty, with less of the floral tones and more mineral salinity. This is definitely made for a shellfish platter.

The '15 Fonte Canale is, all at once, both stimulating and soothing to the senses. Depths of mineral-infused stone fruits and green apple acidity dominated the palate, creating unbelievable tension and a savory finish that went on and on. All of this while maintaining an amazingly textural experience. Sometimes a wine grows on you, but in this case, it was love at first sight.

Overwhelmingly acidic. May have been a bad bottle. Undrinkable
