Sampled at Oinoscent during service, courtesy of a customer, after 6hr decant, from a magnum -/- Beautiful fragrance, floral notes, ethereal, fruit, red cherries, soure cherry, stalky freshness, elegant, finesse, precise Palate is gorgeous too, refined, utterly elegant despite its warmth (which at 16% could be far worse). Its fresh, showing raspberries, cherries, nicea tannins, acidity, medium to full body, long finish OUtstanding quality, decades before peak

Kiawah 2022; 8/6/2022-8/13/2022: Really nice. More classic Châteauneuf than the Chimère. Pomegranate, cherry, plum, fig, date, clay pot, mushroom, ethereal. Interesting to see the Grenache come forward rather than Mourvèdre. Would hold. 2025-2045+

A celebration of a 64th, wines that will still be great on my 64th
Second act opened with this delight. The nose has almost a cherry jolly rancher quality - candied, racy. The palate is beautifully intense, lighter bodied, but so flavorful. Was happy to take a second glass. Changes with air, garrigue notes playfully appear. Lingering finish. Stunning. High abv you can't taste.

UWS Leap year dinner (@ CdW and KvdK): Beautiful bouquet with ripe dark and red berries and beautiful garrigue. On the palate concentrated and very ripe red and dark berries. A lot of herbs and spices. Very full bodied and rich. A truly great wine!

Walk around tasting. From Magnum. For me slightly less good than the Deus ex Machina and therefor not worth the more than double price! But still a stunner of a wine...

This wine is so floral and layered it's in it's own reserved category. The nose soars with pretty floral and fruit notes that echo on the palate and the glycerin mouthfeel and finish. I think this wine need a decade or more to come together but it's amazingly pretty now.

A third tasting from the same bottle, though on this occasion decanted. Air revealed more smoke and mineral elements that had shown in the two Coravin pour tastings. MASSIVE!!!

Layers of fruit, flowers, herbs, and spice on the bouquet and palate. Something other than a wine of the earth though. So much fruit that mineral elements are drowned out. Also, the 16 abv is prominent at room temperature. Fascinating and of high quality, although not really my thing.

Tasted a one ounce Coravin pour. A huge wine, and surprisingly not hot, as so many CSJ tend to be. Effusive coco powder texture, hot stones, dried fig, date, and desert air (a Bajayngo descriptor). Looking forward to enjoying more of this in the not too distant future. 94++
