Awful. Completely flat with very strong and overpowering notes of rose water. The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like rose. It tastes like rose. The body is light/medium. The wine has flabby texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.

At first glance, one would agree with some of the previous tasting notes. One is tempted to toss the stuff into the sink. But the wine opens in the glass beautifully. The fruity notes and full body are enchanting. The steely, minerally notes keep the wine from going over into grape juice territory. Over-chilling is a big no-no; serve a little below room temperature.

If I were grading by Aroma only, the score would be much better. ZNice tropical, pineapple, mango, etc. notes. There is some alcohol heat. Per earlier reviewer, my wife said "it tastes like a beer that i do not like". Also, where is the acid. Disappointing.
Not sure if it was over the hill, a bad bottle, or just not good. Dark gold color. Sweet nose with pineapple and tartness on the palate. Almost tastes like beer!

Huh, different bottles. Still plenty of tropical goodness, creamy, waxy, spicy. But the sweetness/acidity balance seemed more off than the last bottle. If it had more acid, I'd be a big fan.

Pale gold color, slightly oily in the glass, fragrant and floral, luscious, some lychee and orange rind, not overtly sweet but balanced with tartness and a little bitterness almost.

This bottle was a lot of fun with the Mother's Day brunch I cooked up. Honey, guava, papaya, white pepper and sage on the nose. Suave, rich, sweet yet medium acidity helps. Plush with lots of tropical fruits, loaded with spices and herbs, honey, dried almond, candied ginger. Sweetness lingers on the finish, but there's enough going on with this wine, the sweetness doesn't stick out too much.

Color of Amber yellow, leaning toward more like the color of a melon. Scents of lychee and melon. Tastes were consistent with scents; however, there was a prevailing bitterness in the mid pallet and finish, which was offputting.

Brought to a holiday gathering. Another disappointing bottle of this, a wine I usually love from Zind Humbrecht. The nose was promising with flowers and some lychee nuance. However on the palate there was little fruit and a bitter component that prevailed through the finish. This was my 3rd (and last) bottle of this. None were corked, but all 3 were disagreeable versions of what I cobsider to usually be a wonderful wine.

Our bottle was good, was worried a little from previous tasters. These wines from Zind-Humbrecht are always singular, idiosyncratic experiences, I've never tasted anything else quite like them. They are a matter of individual taste though, especially Gewurz's like this. The nose featured floral, perfumed aromas of pineapple, grapefruit, and other citrus fruits. It's not quite as large-scaled, rich, and complex as the more expensive, single-vineyard cuvees, but at $25, this is not bad, quite refreshing at the end of a long day. In the mouth it's smooth, medium-bodied, no hard edges, and quite enjoyable (if you like these kind of wines), finishing with a notable, buttery presence.

We like Alsatian wine; this is one of the reasons why. Pity the poor folks who found flaws or nothing on this because we found a whole lot to like. First, the aroma is explosively floral and aromatic; just a delight to indulge the senses in. Then on the palate another explosion of lychee and gooseberries.

WCC Blind Alsace Kaiseki Dinner (Shogun Sushi and Sake Bar, Delmar, NY): Wow, what a way to start. Such a gorgeous, balanced expression of Gewurztraminer. I was surprised to see that this is only a village wine, but it is from over 40 year old vines. Just a touch of RS. Very impressive for $23. Group #1.

I don't know what happened here. I'm usually a HUGE fan of the gewurtztraminers from Zind-Hunbrecht. They often are very lively with flavors of gooseberry and lychee fruit. This one not so much. Not flawed, simply tepid. I know that a mildly corked bottle can sometimes show this way, so I later opened another bottle of this. Unfortunately it tasted identical to the first. I have some more of these that I'm not anxious to drink. Hopefully they will improve with age.

2015 Zind Humbrecht? Current gold indeed (Domaine Zind Humbrecht): Lovely dry expression of Gewurztraminer. The older vines (average age just below 50 years) lends much substance to the palate, a vinous aspect, that complements subtle spice and exotic fruit flourishes that are never too much. For some palates accustomed to sweeter Gewurztraminer, could be a learning curve wine, but I really enjoyed this.
