Hard nut, underneath the tannins and iron is the promise of blackberry fruit, spice and hint of raspberry on the finish. Broad and muscular, straightforward, nice length. This wine is just beginning to enter its drinking window, and I would recommend a decant, even the day before. I think this is good well beyond 2030. (Hope I live long enough to test the theory) I won't try another bottle for a couple of years to give those chewy tannins a chance to resolve. Better day 2. If there were a day 3, I think that would be better yet. You get the idea.

Wow, this 2016 is really the type of wine that I like to drink.
Dark violet color with a smell of ripe red currant and blackberry. In the mouth, bold black fruits dominate with spices and tobacco. It's dry with tannins that are very present so this wine could probably use a few more years of aging.
Nice finish and lenght for a Haut-Medoc that has a lot to offer in an affordable wine.

PnP. Solid, serviceable, not great. Decent for the money. Well-colored, somewhat floral nose. Mineral-laden fruit, a bit pedestrian. Inoffensive but not terribly noteworthy. 4-11-14-7: 86/100.

Popped and poured. Not quite as the '10 Sociando I enjoyed earlier, but still pretty decent, especially for the $. Strong dark red, with legs. Nose shows minerals and iron. Good dollop of ripe fruit in the mouth, no real complexity, a bit monolithic, but good for the money. 5-12-15-7: 89/100.

On pnp this was rather unpleasant but just as previous bottle came alive after a few hrs of air. A very nice food wine - me like. Can probably last a yr or two.

Dark, translucent red. Red fruit nose with a little wood. Soft mouthfeel. No edges. Not much going on here. After five days in the fridge, vacuum sealed, slightly more grainy mouth feel. Will try again in a year to see if any positive evolution but doesn't seem likely.

A pretty, semi-opaque magenta in the glass - right up to the rim. Very expressive on the nose, offering subtle aromas of earth, crushed, dark berries and violets. Full-bodied and silky in texture. Lots of tangy plum, blackberry and dark currant fruit character here, with complex hints of tobacco and earth. Very well-balanced, with a moderate acidity and just a touch of oak. Shows nice depth on the mid-palate and a long, caressing finish. Textbook Haut-Medoc from an excellent vintage. At around $18, the QPR here is fabulous. 90+++ 50+5+12+16+7=90

Opened last night. Good color. Still more purple than red. Legs coat the glass. Very pretty bouquet of violets. Lovely in the mouth. Nice balance of acid and fruit. A steal at $20. Could beat many classified Chateaux. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

Ok, so no detailed notes but quite unbalanced upon opening. Some note i couldnt place but felt vegetal and misplaced. Thought id open another wine to deal with saturday night but gave in to hope.... Decanted 4 hrs in a wide decanter and it was absolutely singing after that. Got some fruit, acid, long tannic tail and further development (hopefully). Immediately logged on and ordered more as this fits nicely as a bdx food wine.

By the glass. It looks of a superior quality wine with an elegance and depth that its peers already wanted. It does not stick out on the nose but in the mouth it already shows its amplitude and its class. Admirable precision. Its time will surely come.
Por copas. Parece de una calidad superior con una elegancia y profundidad que sus pares ya quisieran. No sobresale en nariz pero en boca muestra ya su amplitud y su clase. Admirable precision. Su tiempo llegará sin duda.

Good ruby color, obviously youthful. Nose not super giving, but nice notes of dark berry fruit. I got excited as it initially hit the palate (big soft fruit up front), but ultimately it was very short there. Ok.

A: The wine is a deep ruby with pink and garnet rim highlights. N: The wine has a medium intensity of aromas. There are primary aromas of dried cranberry, black current, and bramble. Secondary aromas of resin and toast. The wine is developing. P: The wine is dry. There is medium acidity and medium plus tannin. The alcohol is medium plus and the wine is medium plus in body. The palate confirms the nose with dried and dusty fruit of cranberry, black current, pencil lead and dried fig. There are secondary flavors of toast, charred wood, and resin. The wine has a medium intensity of flavors and a medium plus finish. The wine is developing. The wine is good. The wine is drink now and can be suitable for aging for 3-5 years.
This wine is the antithesis of a new world style. Very reticent and shy. It will be interesting to see how it develops in the next several years.

Still a great value in the world of wine but I think I prefer the 2015. Both were young but the 2015 had more fruit whereas the 2016 is a bit more strict. I assume the 16 will age better but honestly I didn't buy these to age.. Trust me, I would definitely but more for around $20 because it is still a crazy value for that price on a serious wine

Fresh and even more focused than the preceding wine. Lovely freshness and like breathing oxygen, as if I landed in Cyprus after being in Strasbourg for too long ... 89-91

Good food wine. Rethinking the end-date for this one. Why not test it past 2030?
