I won’t describe the flavor profile of this wine as others have done that before and it is almost beside the point. This is exactly what you would expect from the top white burgundy vineyard and near top producer. The only flaw I ever saw written about this wine was that the 08 might be even better - but that is now when 08 has the age advantage. Let’s see how they compare in 5-8 years and only if some exceedingly generous friend decides to pop open a bottle that will by then be priceless.

15/08 pairing. I had rated this 100 in the past, and it was darn close again, but the 08 was better tonight, so I guess we'll call this bottle near perfect. Waves of ridiculous amounts of rich fruit and still primary though accented with mineral, spice and honey. Pristine balance and precision. Amazing that a wine with this power and concentration can be so effortless. Based on the 08 along side, room for some extra upside.

Happy Birthday to Me (Oriole - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2008. Rich and dense with so much ripe orchard fruit, fresh herbs and spring flowers. Starts off lush and brilliant, this brightens up from the middle forward to its long, long exciting finish. The only bad thing I can say about this wine is that the 2008 was even better.

Wow did Ramonet do a great job in this vintage. Drank in a spectacular flight with the 10 Montrachet, and a 12 Coche CC, this was fireworks from the first whiff. Even Better bouquet than the 10, this was a reference standard for the minty floral nose of this domaine, just so enveloping. Chris called it deeper and more plush than the 10 which I’d agree with, though for me it didn’t have quite the mineral cut, which I think is vintage specific. But this in incredibly generous here and now, full on Ramonet experience

Ramonet 2015 Horizontal / Rousseau Older CSJ Vertical (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Served single blind alongside a weak bottle of Bâtard-Montrachet and a great bottle of Chevalier-Montrachet. Floral start with savory spice, fresh herbs, lemon curd, apple tart, and even more stuff I ran of space to write down. So much depth and concentration, this was easy for everybody to identify as the Montrachet. Brilliant now, with upside. Thrilled to have 6 bottles safely stashed away. Thanks for sharing, JR!

Friday Night Ramonet & Rousseau (RPM Steak - Chicago, IL): a rare treat, that spectacularly delivered. Enthralling and intense aromas of orchard fruit that is laced with spice, chalk, mineral. Wow, insane nose. Dense, rich, concentrated and enveloping palate that is loaded with spice and mineral. Despite the density and concentration this is so elegant and refined. Fireworks in the finish. Perfection.

Perhaps a perfect wine in reality. From the aromas alone this was clearly going to be amazing. Chiseled and bright while also deep and rich with a finish that does not seem to end. The texture and balance create perfect harmony. A wine of real breed that impresses, Even served blind everyone got this right. A very special treat!
Ramonet Montrachet Lunch (Phoenix, AZ USA): Lightest color of the flight, less viscosity than the previous wine. More youthful with a looooong finish. Light and airy this glides across the palate. Slight bitterness on the finish, typical of younger vintages, so it wasn't too surprising that this was the youngest vintage upon the reveal.

There was a lot a greatness showing, and also a lot yet to show. Decanted for 90 minutes in the afternoon, then recorked for dinner. It was a bit slow out of the gates, but unfurled over the long dinner.

Montrachet is not usually the wet your whistle type white to kick off with, but when I spied this at a sympathetic price, my whistle was crying out for some Montrachet humidity. It was a sphere of Chardonnay loveliness. So open knit, complex, ethereal and beguiling. There were plenty of ripe orchard fruit notes along with aniseed, spearmint and ginger spice. It had a dollop of butter and loads of smoky mineral. There were no edges, yet it has energy that is far superior to so many others. There’s effortless presence and flavours linger on and on. It is splendid on its own or with food.

Butter, peach, aniseed, mint and chalk. Great complexity and layer upon layer of fruit, mineral and flora in the mouth. It is extremely rich and powerful yet light on its feet. The texture is unctuous and length phenomenal. A great Ramonet Monty.

Cru Crew Wine dinner hosted by Brad England (Mara restaurant at the Four Seasons hotel in Minneapolis, MN.): Served alongside the '13, '14 and '16. Very good showing. Spice, honey on the nose. Very lush but perhaps lacks freshness of some of the others. Sweet lingering finish.

Ramonet Montrachet: A stellar bottle, which oozed class. As a group, the trio of 2013, 2014, and 2015 was otherworldly.
